Clinical Research Bursaries
CLINICAL RESEARCH BURSARIES 2
Introduction Clinical research bursaries are offered, on a competitive basis, to occupational therapists who are current members of Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Division.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel from the Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Divisional Council in addition to one external reviewer from a school of occupational therapy in Queensland.
Frequency The Award is available on a biennial basis.
Purpose The purpose of the bursary is:
• to assist those already undertaking clinical research or projects in an area related to occupational therapy theory or practice
• to support members wishing to commence clinical research or projects where assistance is less likely to be available from other sources
• to increase the profile of research within Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Division
• to disseminate information regarding clinical research projects
Eligibility • The NT/QLD Divisional Council will consider offering the bursary every two years
• The NT/QLD Divisional Council will decide when it will be appropriate to call for applications, the closing date, selection date, and award date
• Call for applications will be published in the Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Division newsletter and on the website
• Applications are to be submitted in the format provided by Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Division on the website www.otaus.com.au or by contacting the NT/QLD office on 07 3397 6744
• Ethical approval must be obtained from the relevant organisations for their project
• The bursary should be used for projects or research that can be completed over a two year period
• The total remuneration of the bursary/s will be decided by the Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Divisional Council
• Applications should be made requesting assistance for up to this amount. . Late applications will not be accepted.

Selection Process • One or several projects/research applications may be awarded, up to a total of $3000
• Applications will be reviewed by a panel consisting of two representatives from the Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Divisional Council and one representative from a school of occupational therapy in Queensland
The Award • Following the decision of the Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Divisional Council, the
Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Division bursary will be announced to the successful and unsuccessful applicants in writing
• A date will be set by the Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Divisional Council to officially present the bursary to the successful applicant(s)
• Announcement of the award will be made in the newsletter and on the website
• The research summary submitted by the successful applicant may be published in the association’s newsletter
The Awardee The successful applicant will be required to:
• Present their findings to a relevant professional body at the completion of the project
• Provide a summary of the research findings to Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Division at the completion of the research
• This report may be published in the Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Division newsletter
• Publication of the findings of the clinical research project is also encouraged
• No major change of direction in the research will be considered after the award of the bursary
• The Occupational Therapy Australia - NT/QLD Divisional Council must be notified of any change of direction to the project/research
• Bursaries are to be taken up in the year for which the award is made
• The funds are to be used to support the project outlined in the formal application
• No additional financial assistance will be provided after the award is made
