Period of abstinence: 3 days  Amount : 3 ml  Appearance: Grey white  Liquefaction : 15 minutes

pH : 8.0

Sperm count : 10 millions/ml  Motility : >60% of sperms are actively motile.

Morphology: >65% of sperms are of normal morphology.

Answer the following questions:

What is the diagnosis?

Mention the indications for semen analysis.

 

2. A 5 year old child was brought to the hospital

with a history of fever on and off, with evening rise of temperature since 1 month. The CSF analysis showed the following features.

Physical examination:   Volume : 2ml Colour/Appearance : Turbid   Chemical examination:   Protein : 60 mg/dl Glucose : 45 mg/dl Chloride : 70mEq/L  

Microscopy:   Total cell count : 1200 cells/ cumm Differential count : Lymphocytes: 90%,

Neutrophils: 10%   Answer the following question:   What is the diagnosis? Mention other investigations you would do?

3. 3 year old child was brought to the hospital

with a history of fever, vomiting, convulsions and altered sensorium of 2 days duration. The CSF analysis showed the following features. 

Physical examination:   Volume : 2ml Colour/Appearance : Turbid   Chemical examination:   Protein : 300 mg/dl Glucose : 10mg/dl Chloride : 118mEq/L  

Microscopy:   Total cell count : 1200 cells/ cumm Differential count : Neutrophils: 90%,

Lymphocytes: 10%   Answer the following question:   What is the diagnosis? Mention other investigations you would do?

4 A female aged 40 years was

admitted to the hospital with history of recurrent fever, loin pain since one week. Urine examination showed the following features

Physical examination: Quantity : 2000ml/day Colour : Yellow Appearance : Turbid Specific gravity : 1.030   Chemical examination: Ph : 6.8 Albumin : ++ Blood : Present (+) Sugar : Absent Ketone bodies : Absent  

Microscopy: Pus cells : 30-40/hpf Epithelial cells : 4-6/hpf RBCs : 2-4/hpf Casts and crystals : Pus cell casts seen. Answer the following question:   What is your diagnosis? What other investigations would you like to

do?  

5 A 8 yr old child presented with history of

generalized edema of 12 days duration. Urine examination showed the following

features.

to do? How is the specific gravity corrected for altered

protein levels?

10 . A 30 year old female presented with a

history of generalized weakness and fatigue since 3 weeks.
