Researchers announced in a new Nature journal published this week that climate change will destroy economies across the globe and inthe United States by year 2100 theyrsquove estimated that the average income could shrink 36 percent
Do the math If your household is earning between $35000 to $100000 today mdash add inflation after more than 80 years and thensubtract 36 percent mdash and yoursquoll get your grandkidrsquos average income
Authors Marshall Burke Solomon M Hsiang and Edward Miguel have examined 50 years of economic and temperature data in more than160 countries mdash and found that climate change could shrivel the worldrsquos average income 23 percent at the end of the century
The scientific paper suggests that the hotter a country is on average the more it will feel the ldquoburnrdquo of shrinking income Countries incolder regions like Canada and Russia will benefit from global warming
Meanwhile nations in hotter regions will suffer the most from changing temperature mdash like China India Mexico South Americancountries near the equator mdash and drumroll mdash the United States
In China the research estimates that householdsrsquo average income will shrink 42 percent by the aforementioned year but itrsquos still muchsmaller compared to Australia with negative 53 percent Indiarsquos 92 and Brazilrsquos red 83 percent mark
Theyrsquove also found the most favorable temperature for an economy mdash 13shydegree Celsius or 55shydegree Fahrenheit mdash or the averagetemperature of Silicon Valley
The second largest contributor of carbon dioxide to suffer too
