OVERVIEW

Effective November 1, 2017, United Community Bank and Four Oaks Bank have joined forces to expand their shared commitment to quality service throughout the central North Carolina community. The combined bank will provide expanded access to the United Personal and Business banking products and services, while maintaining the customer focus and local decision-making you have come to expect. Together, we will continue providing personalized financial solutions to you, our valued customers. As a Four Oaks Bank customer, we understand you may have questions and we’re committed to keeping you informed with clear and frequent communications as this transition progresses.

At this time, there is nothing you need to do. You should continue to conduct your banking as you always have with the same great team you know and trust.

United is consistently recognized for outstanding customer service; In 2017, United claimed the top ranking for overall customer satisfaction in the J.D. Power U.S. Retail Banking Satisfaction Study℠ as highest ranked in the Southeast region for the fourth consecutive year. Forbes included United on their list of the top 100 Best Banks in America in 2017, also for the fourth consecutive year.

• The combination of United Community Bank and Four Oaks Bank will enhance United’s position in the fast-growing Raleigh metropolitan area and will provide a unique opportunity for United to offer its expanded product line to Four Oaks Bank customers. The two banks have customer-centric community banking philosophies that, combined, will provide the resources of a larger institution and expanded customer access to commercial, retail and investment products and services.

• Additional information will be provided as the dates are confirmed; however, we are currently anticipating the merger to be effective in the spring of 2018.

1. Who is United Community Bank? Since 1950, United Community Bank has been dedicated to providing best in class service to our

2. How will the merger impact me? There will be no immediate effects for any Four Oaks Bank customers. You should continue to

conduct your banking as you normally do, and you will continue to experience the same great service from the local teams you know and trust.

3. When did Four Oaks Bank begin its transition into United Community Bank? On November 1, 2017, Four Oaks Bank officially became part of United Community Bank, having

received all required approvals from banking regulators and the Four Oaks Bank shareholders. Until the system integration of the two companies is completed in the spring of 2018, Four Oaks Bank will operate as a trade name of United Community Bank.

4. Will my accounts still be FDIC insured? If you do not have any pre-existing accounts with United Community Bank, then there will be

no change to your FDIC insurance coverage. If you do have accounts at both United Community Bank and Four Oaks Bank, the FDIC provides continuing separate insurance coverage for at least six months following the legal close on November 1, 2017.

5. Will you continue to operate under the Four Oaks Bank name? Initially yes; however, Four Oaks Bank will eventually begin operating under the United

Community Bank name, with a full transition scheduled for the spring of 2018. The United Community Bank and Four Oaks Bank teams are working diligently in the background to make this transition as seamless as possible for you. As we prepare for the full transition in the spring of 2018, you will see the United Community Bank name appear on some legal documents and contracts or see statements such as “United Community Bank d/b/a Four Oaks Bank.” However, you should continue to conduct your banking as you normally do. We will notify you in advance if any action is needed.

7. Do I need to do anything right now with my accounts? No, at this time there are no actions that need to be taken. You should continue to conduct your

banking as you normally do. United Community Bank and Four Oaks Bank teams are working diligently in the background to make this transition as smooth as possible. We will notify you in advance if any action is needed.

8. WillIbenotifiedofimportantchangesimpactingmyaccounts,includingOnline and Mobile Banking?

Yes, the United Community Bank and Four Oaks Bank teams are dedicated to you, our customer, and we will communicate as frequently as possible throughout this transition. Any account, online and/or mobile banking changes that may impact you will be communicated well in advance of the change occurring.

9. Who do I contact if I have questions about my accounts today or concerns going forward?

If you have any questions and/or concerns, you should contact your local Four Oaks Bank. Our teams are working closely together, and your local Four Oaks Bank team will continue to be your trusted resource.

10. Will my branch remain open? Yes. You will continue to enjoy the same convenience and service from the team of bankers you know and trust, at the same locations you use today.
