1 SCOPE
This document defines the tender requirements of a 40 GHz Vector Network Analyser (VNA).
1.1 INTENDED USE OF THIS DOCUMENT
This requirements specification:
Defines performance, interface, environmental, physical, services, safety, logistic support and special design requirements required of the VNA.
List the compliance matrix that will be used to evaluate the compliance of the proposed VNA tender submissions.
1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
SARAO is in the process of procuring a 40 GHz four port VNA to be used for testing and qualification of RF and microwave components. The typical components and systems that will be tested using this VNA is given in Table 1.

Passive Components Includes filters, couplers, diplexers, attenuators, cables, waveguides and
combiners.
Measurements include full S-parameters, group delay and phase.
Antenna Measurements Measurements include matching and gain. Time gate capability is also
required to allow for the measurement of antenna gain in multi-path
environments.
Active Components Includes low noise amplifiers (LNA), power amplifiers, mixers and RF
over fibre modules.
System Measurements Down and up converter measurements.

3 REQUIREMENTS
3.1 FUNCTIONAL AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
