Queen Cleopatra VIIand her rule
CLeopatra’s Early Start
Her Early Life: The dawn. A symbol of a new
beginning. A new hope.
Something to look forward
to. Cleopatra VII was born in
Alexandria in 69BCE. She was notactually egyptian. She was born
into a line of Pharaohs, even
though none of her siblings
thought she would become
successful.
Marriage:
At the age of 12, Cleopatramarried her brother, Ptolemy XIII,
carrying on the Egyptian
tradition. At the age of 18,
Cleopatra had become the queen
of Egypt, but she had to share
the throne with her 12-year-old
brother. The two didn’t get along
very well. Cleopatra and Ptolemy
fought so much that one day,
Ptolemy kicked Cleopatra out of
power!

Love: AntonyAfter Caesar’s death,
Cleopatra moved on to the
next Roman king, Marc Antony.
She once again put him under
her charming spell and gained
Antony’s trust. The two of
them soon fell in love and had
children.
War and TroublesOctavian, Rome’s “ruler in
waiting” got angry because
Antony put all of Cleopatra’s
children in charge of bits and
pieces of Roman territory.
Octavian declared war on
Antony, but Antony lost andCleopatra and Antony both fled
to Egypt.
Sudden DeathIn the end, Marc Antony
committed suicide, andCleopatra followed her
husband. Legend has it that
she let an Asp, a type of
deadly cobra, bite her. But
even though Cleopatra lived
hundreds of years ago, her
spirit lives on to this day.
MonumentsCleopatra did not build any
proper monuments because
she was not a builder, but that
is what we know. She never
got the ability to finish the
temple she was building for
herself, though. One
monument that we know for
sure that Cleopatra built was
called the Caesarium.Cleopatra built the Caesarium
for Julius Caesar, her former
lover. In some time, the
Caesarium sunk underwater.
Affecting thePeopleWhen Cleopatra
made Egypt an
independent power,
the Egyptians
seemed to be very
happy because the
people had their own
rights and they had
prosperity. Even
though Cleopatra did
not do much for her
community, the
people were still
happy because of
their peace andprosperity.
