ruler of the Ptolemaic Dynasty;

Queen Cleopatra VII

Help: CaesarIn 48 BCE, Cleopatra found

out that the great Julius Caesar

was arriving in Egypt and that

he decided to settle the

Love: AntonyAfter Caesar’s death,

Cleopatra moved on to the

next Roman king, Marc Antony.

She once again put him under

her charming spell and gained

Antony’s trust. The two of

them soon fell in love and had

children.

War and TroublesOctavian, Rome’s “ruler in

waiting” got angry because

Antony put all of Cleopatra’s

children in charge of bits and

pieces of Roman territory.

Octavian declared war on

Antony, but Antony lost andCleopatra and Antony both fled

to Egypt.

Sudden DeathIn the end, Marc Antony

committed suicide, andCleopatra followed her

husband. Legend has it that

she let an Asp, a type of

deadly cobra, bite her. But

even though Cleopatra lived

hundreds of years ago, her

spirit lives on to this day.

MonumentsCleopatra did not build any

proper monuments because

she was not a builder, but that

is what we know. She never

got the ability to finish the

temple she was building for

herself, though. One

monument that we know for

sure that Cleopatra built was

called the Caesarium.Cleopatra built the Caesarium

for Julius Caesar, her former

lover. In some time, the

Caesarium sunk underwater.

Affecting thePeopleWhen Cleopatra

made Egypt an

independent power,

the Egyptians

seemed to be very

happy because the

people had their own

rights and they had

prosperity. Even

though Cleopatra did

not do much for her

community, the

people were still

happy because of

their peace andprosperity.

became a commanding

bow down to them. Because of

Cleopatra, Egypt was able to

say Our trade lines, our ruler, our army, etc. Cleopatra also
