Teaching our children about cleanliness begins right from the moment they are born. We take great efforts to
keep our children clean. Not only do we teach our children to use the toilet and clean themselves properly, we also
train them to wash their hands on leaving the washroom and before eating etc. We also teach them to keep their
surroundings and environment clean by not littering the place and by throwing the garbage into the bin and by
keeping their toys back after playing. The message we are giving our children is that we must keep ourselves and
our environment clean.
We dedicated two weeks on cleanliness in school with a lot of fun activities like:
• Clean up campaign – Children were taken around the school for a clean up campaign.
• Put it back – Children were taught that they have to put things like toys, books and pencils etc back in place after they
use it.
• Washing hands – A demonstration on how to wash the hands properly was done and each child was given a turn to
wash his/her hand properly. The school nurse gave a talk and demonstration on personal hygiene.
On a final note cleanliness, is much more than just an outward appearance. It is an all-embracing ethic for
sound living. It is also a state of the mind and heart that involves our morals and worship which finally nurtures our
character.
Cleanliness week
Special Assembly conducted by KG 2 A
They came, performed and conquered our hearts. The tiny tots of KG 2 A put up a
marvellous show on 18.10.11.It was their first special assembly and they proved to be
real professionals performing to the hilt. The theme chosen was
“ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AND CLEANLINESS”.
A Medley of songs related to this followed by a skit ,passed on the message loud and
clear that it is foremost importance to maintain our surroundings.
Rehearsals under the able guidance of the teachers, helped the little ones to conduct
the whole show efficiently all by themselves. We wanted to share the entire
proceeding with our parents, so we conducted the same for them on 23.10.11.The
presence of their dear ones motivated the little kids and it was a treat to watch them
perform once again.
Thumbs up brave soldiers! You have indeed set the ball rolling for the forthcoming
KG special assembly sessions.
Fruit week
The benefit of consuming fresh fruits was discussed, emphasissing on how important it is to make fruits part of our daily meal be it raw (as in salads), mixed with ice cream,
fruit yoghurt, jam, jelly or juice
The fun activities that we did with fruits: • Apple printing • Fruit salad making

Trip to the vegetable market
With colourful badges representing different fruits and vegetables, the
children of the KG section were all set for an adventurous trip to the Al
Aweer vegetable market. The excitement which started off at the school
campus, continued in the bus and doubled as we reached our
destination.Hoards of vendors clicked away at their cameras and mobile
phones as our young stars alighted from the bus and made them feel like
celebrities.Curious little faces looked around and seemed to be eager to
know and learn more about their new and unfamiliar surroundings. The
teachers ably guided the kids for a tour around the market explaining and
familiarising them about the fruits and vegetables. The vendors too
seemed to be eager to display their wares to the young audience. Some of
them even cut a few unfamiliar vegetables and fruits while others
presented the kids with them.We appreceaited this gesture of theirs.Soon
it was time to go back and the little ones were not disappointed as they
carried back oranges for their mamas and exciting news about the day’s
events
Shopping at the mock market
The shopping fervour was still on and so we decided to set our mini mock
market just outside the KG Activity Room. Colourful soft boards depicting fruits
and vegetables adorned the area.Tables lined with trays filled with different
fruits and vegetables were arranged.Armed with shopping bags made of old
news papers and shopping lists, the enthusiastic shoppers of each class
seemed eager to go on a shopping spree. We even had currency notes of
1 Dhs for our Kg 2 children. The tiny tots turned out to be smarter than their age.
They did a fantastic job and had a whale of a time shopping for what they liked.
We could sense their pride as each one walked to the tables and shopped
confidently. All in all they seemed so excited and elated that they were ready to
do it the next day again.
Vegetable/fruit salad day Mouth watering fruit/vegetable salads were prepared meticulously by the
Teachers and students of the kindergareten department. The parents too had
contributed generously by sending in all the necessary ingredients needed
for the preparations. It was fun to peel, cut (done by the teachers and bus
monitors) and arrange the fruits and vegetables. The end result was
awesome as it was sheer delight to see the UAE and Indian National flags
prepared out of bread and vegetables. The fruit salads were displayed
tastefully in a bowl, watermelon basket and toothpicks too were used. The
little ones gazed in wonder at the colourful exhibits using fruits and
vegetables. They were extremely satisfied when they gorged upon their hard
work and relished it immensely.
