Converting the coal now burned at Huntly to petrol using the Bergius Process yields
20.87 million barrels of oil per year. This production alone reduces imports from 90,750barrels of oil per day to 33,600 barrels of oil per day with no change in use. Additionalproduction at Montonui and Marsden Point ends oil imports altogether. Expansion ofhydrogen production turns New Zealand into an oil exporting nation.
