    Classroom Reward System

    OVERVIEW

I would prefer to reward us for the things we do correctly than discipline us thetimes we mess up. Each day you have an opportunity to earn points that lead up to

a reward. They will be tallied on the board. Here are the opportunities that exist forclassroom-wide rewards:

    1) ENTERING THE ROOM SILENTLY2) WORKING ON DO NOW SILENTLY3) TAKING NOTES/DISCUSSING RESPECTFULLY4) WORKING IN GROUPS COOPERATIVELY5) CONCLUDING CLASS APPROPRIATELY AND ON TIME

**I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ADD POINTS FOR SEEING POSITIVE BEHAVIOR ANDALSO TO ERASE POINTS IF THE CLASS FAILS TO MEET CERTAIN EXPECTATIONS

    HOMEROOM/SOCIAL STUDIES

For meeting each of these expectations, the class as a whole will earn a point.

These points will be cumulative, meaning they add up, and work towards a biggergoal each month.

1)Laptop usage every Thursday (15 points)a. On a weekly basis, you will earn the right to make use of our laptops.

Laptops will be used forwebquestsonline research assignments.

Failure to reach 15 means you will be reading independently from thetext.

    2) Choice of music with Newspapers (20 points)a. Every Friday we will read newspapers after the weekly quiz. On a

weekly basis, you may earn an opportunity to choose the music thatwe listen to. Otherwise you get classical!

    3) Choice of Groups on Unit Project (if we earn rewards 1 and 2 each week)a. Each unit (for example, our first unit is the Civil War) will conclude

with an independent research project, completed by groups of 3. If wereach the goals outlined by 1 and 2 for the entire unit, you will be

allowed to choose your group members.4) If we earn 1-3 in a given unit, you will earn the right to watch a movie that is

related to our topic of study. Teacher choice.

    MATH CLASS

For meeting each of these expectations, the class as a whole will earn a point. These points will be cumulative, meaning they add up, and work towards a bigger

    goal each month.

    1) Laptop usage every Friday (20 points)a. On a weekly basis, you will earn the right to make use of our laptops.

Use of the laptops will be for either vocabulary review or a skill

review.2) Free point on the Quiz (25 points)

    a. Every Friday we will assess the weeks skills. As a class, if we earnthe right number of points, I will award everyone a free point on themost recent quiz.

    3) Choice ofGroup Test (if we earn rewards 1 and 2 each week)a. We will take a unit assessment approximately every four weeks. If we

earn every possible laptop day and free point, then you will be giventhe option of taking the test as a group of four rather than individually.

    REMINDERS

I encourage us to work as a group to earn these rewards. Please note, that theserewards are CLASSWIDE. We can only earn them if everyone agrees to follow the

established procedures. Individually, you are still accountable for your actions.Failure to earn these rewards will not only affect the class, but you are responsible

for any consequences faced as a result of your decisions.

These are the rewards for the month of August. I encourage you to brainstormother possible rewards and share them with me on YOUR time.
