N A T I O N A L M U S I C C A M P MUSIC PROGRAMS NMC offers two, one-week sessions: Junior Division campers completing Grades 3 to 8 Senior Divison campers completing Grades 8 to 12 NATIONAL MUSIC CAMP has been providing an outstanding musical education and camping experience to young musicians since 1965. We offer the perfect balance of intense and focused music instruction combined with fun and exciting camp activities that allows every camper to flourish and achieve tremendous results. In fact, just one week at NMC enables participants to progress the equivalent of six months of a school and/or private lesson program. We invite you to join us for a magical and memorable musical camp adventure! BAND / ORCHESTRA Program catered to all playing levels but one year’s experience is recommended Instrumentalists work in full bands and orchestra Sectionals and master classes with specialists All string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments JAZZ One year’s playing experience is recommended (keyboard players need RCM grade 6 equivalent) Big band, combos, improvisational workshops, jazz fundamentals, master classes Alto, Tenor, Baritone Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboard Vocal Jazz MUSICAL THEATRE Triple threat program: Acting, Singing and Dancing No previous experience required Campers perform a “Broadway” style show for parents on concert day Soloist and group performance techniques in both singing and choreography CLASSICAL GUITAR All levels of players welcomed This program develops campers' reading and playing abilities Group lessons, ensemble playing, music reading classes, one on one support Acoustic guitar required (guitar rentals are available from the camp) BEGINNER INSTRUMENTS *JR DIVISION-ONLY Learn to read music and play an instrument for the first time Sectionals and master classes with specialists Ideal for students entering a music program at school All string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments available SUZUKI STRINGS *JR DIVISION-ONLY This program is designed for Suzuki trained musicians Daily Suzuki classes, reading classes and ensemble groups Campers also play in the camper orchestra Violin, viola, cello and string bass UKULELE All level of players welcomed Program provided by Melanie Doane’s Uschool Focus on development of playing and singing skills Group lessons, ensemble playing, music reading classes, one on one support DRUMLINE All levels of experience welcomed Rhythm and percussion skills developed through large group and sectional lessons Drumline choreography workshops Drumline equipment provided at camp (campers must bring drumsticks) FIDDLE *SR DIVISION-ONLY No fiddle experience required but at least one year of violin experience recommended Group lessons, ensemble playing, music reading classes and one on one support Learn classic Irish and Scottish fiddle tunes to perform on concert day Campers must provide their own violin (fiddle) Each program has 4 hours of instruction daily from outstanding faculty educators CAMP ACTIVITIES “REC” TIME AND EVENING PROGRAMS NMC offers a “Rec” period to all campers for 90 minutes in both the morning and afternoon in a wide variety of areas. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIESAs a non-profit foundation, NMC has many subsidy opportunities for campers that require financial assistance.

Matching Grant Program: NMC will match up to $50.00 from any music program or organization that provides a $50.00 sponsorship for a camper to attend camp.

Partial Scholarship: $100.00 subsidy from NMC to attend camp (application form required).

Matthew Ferguson Memorial Staff Scholarship Fund (MFMSSF): Provides up to an 80% subsidy for campers to attend camp (application form required).

NMC SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (SPP)

The NMC School Partnership Program is a win/win relationship between NMC, participating schools and their students.

Students receive a discount off their camp feesSchools receive a contribution to their music programThe more students that attend, the bigger the discount and greater the contribution (see chart below)

Students must be enrolled by June 1st and teachers must supply a list of enrolled students
