Class: Senior Infants Room 4 Week beginning: 5th May 2020
Note from teacher:
Hello all,
I hope that you are all keeping well and doing your best to keep busy. I hope you are all helping out at home and keeping your
bedroom and toys all nice and tidy.
It is lovely to see so many of you engaging with the work that is set for the week and that you are still managing to keep in
touch with your school-work while also learning how to develop a whole new set of skills including, how to timetable your day,
enjoy exercise at a 2km limit, play games, help out at home and stay in touch remotely with your school friends. Skills for life
without a doubt!
Please find a list of activities and exercises for the week ahead and feel free to choose the activities that are manageable
for you and your families. I hope you enjoy doing them!
I would like to thank all the parents and guardians for all the support you have given your children at home. It is not an easy
task to balance all the tasks you now have to complete at home as well as trying to keep healthy in both mind and body.
Take care and keep safe

corresponding number of cubes, e.g. one falls off the bed
so they take off one cube. Ask questions about the rhyme
after each verse, e.g. How many children were in the bed?
How many children fell out? How many children are in the
bed now? If there are six children in the bed and four
children on the floor, how many children are in the room

Guess the text title based on the picture.
Ask the children questions:
Who is the author and illustrators?
What type of text is this? (Recount).
How do we know it is a recount? (It tells us
about something that has happened.)
Have you ever tasted a chilli pepper? If not,
what do you think it might taste like?
Listen and find out three Italian dishes on
the menu. (Lasagne, pasta, spaghetti

Stop periodically and ask comprehension questions, e.g.:
A lot of Jack’s pizza is still on his plate. Have you
ever left a lot of your dinner on your plate? Why?
Who do you think might be telling us about what
happened in this recount?
The waiter writes down Jack, Kate and Mum’s food

next? Why might he do this?
Kate is talking in a funny voice page 10. Can you
explain why she couldn’t speak properly?

Picasso painted many different types of painting.
He painted portraits in a particular style like this.

did his portrait paintings? Have a look at the faces
what do you notice about them? Are the faces
symmetrical? What do you notice about their eyes
and nose? Are they all facing the same direction?
Now it’s your turn to draw your own Picasso
