Historical Context-The Bosporus Kingdom was the longest surviving Roman client kingdom -The strategic significance of the strait was one of the factors in the decision of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great to found there in AD 330 his new capital, Constantinople, which came to be known as the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire.
  3. 3. Mint Location and what does it mean? -Ibelieved that by looking at the coins, I will see a correlation between things like war, peace, and Emperors trying to maintain control in populations that are barely Roman. Since coins were often the only images that a person would see of their Emperor, coins were a perfect propaganda tool.
