    Subodh Singh1. commutator were in segments. number of commutator segments are equal to the

    number of conductors. these segments were insulated with each other with mica. end of the conductor isconnected to the lug or riser provided in the segment and other end of segment is connected with end ring.

    Told as per FSS ch 6, and solas ch2-2 everything including material of foam generators,(SS),dist bet. generators and protected space, material and thickness of flaps, also rate of discharge 1m/min oflargest space to be protected (e/r), expansion ratio not more than 1000:1, min no of grouping. Cap 5xlargest space, location etc. x-q what abt blackout: source em fire p/p. ,was happy wid this..

    3. quantity of sand reqd near blr: no idea4. ism complete.

    5. Define boiling pt. Of liquid : temp at which liquid takes latent heat of evap and changes state to gas, gotthis right..

    Types of vessels worked on and asked me the last 2 surveyors from Kol, Told to write down the Q's asked bythem.

    Said So, U r first time here in Mumbai and hope u are aware of that i can ask u from any vessels.I was doing Only Container vessels.Function 3:1> Airlock in LPG, Draw Diagram and then Explain.Asked me how u will enter into Motor room. and show me tat door on Diagram.2> Types of Floor3> Draw the bracket floor4> Stresses in Container vessels5> Parametric Rolling6> Cross section of Oil Tanker Diagram(While Airlock i showed him a door for entering into motor room from deck space, He was not satisfied ndtold me no such arrangment.Lot of cross Q on parametric roll nd i could not explain him much on tanker Cross section and also incontainer stresses..)

    Function 4:Asked me wat type of engines in did.. Told him 12RTflex96C and 12K90MC

    1> Reversing of RTflex2> Fuel pump RTA engine.(was not so prepared with fn 4, so could not giv much satisfactory answers)One more Q, was asked..but i dnt remember it . *Sorry*Function 5:

    1> ESB comes under which chapter of SOLAS2> ESB safeties only external safeties and not interested at all in internal safeties,3> MSB safeties4> Reverse power trip, how will u do it.5> How will u remove HRC fuse.6> Types of fuses.7> Working of induction motor.

    (While HRC fuse, he argues a lot about the special tool used to remove it.. he was like no no and all.. lot ofcross Q on induction motor too, rest he was ok.)

    Function 6:

    1> Types of threads,asked if i ever used one to Order and he asked me which one i used onboard my ship2> SDNR v/v overhaul3> SMC main bearing removal

    ( While i used BSW to order, he asked me why i used tat on..i told my company was using that standardwhile making requisitions, he said ok, and was ok with v/v overhaul.. i made small mistakes on smc bearing

    removal at startin phase, then he said. one more mistake in Procedure i will not give function 6. ndBOOOM!! i missed to tell him abt 2 keeps and though came back fast to tell him, he said tat a Big Big
