Winter 2017 Class Descriptions * denotes Beginner Friendly Classes Baker’s Dozen Blocks of the Month with Janet Wells Second Sunday, beginning January 14 2:00-3:30pm Let’s bake some yummy quilt blocks and taste some yummy cookies, too! Join Janet each month from January-July for a fun Sunday afternoon Block of the Month. These blocks are called a Baker’s Dozen! We’ll make 13 before we are done and every month you will get your patterns, fat quarters to make your blocks, TWO recipes for yummy cookies and have some to taste while we talk and cut. Learn to make an ingenious hanging sleeve so the quilt hangs flat and there is no bump at the top of the quilt where the rod goes thru the sleeve. Club Sunday

Sundays, November 12 and December 10 12:30-4:00pmAre you wanting to start a club but don’t have quite enough people to attend? This may be the day for you! The classroom is reserved on these dates to allow small groups to meet in our classroom while we're open. UFO, Featherweight, Hand Embroidery, Fiber Arts…all are welcome! We have 2 classroom so you can group together to meet and still allow space for other groups. Cost: $5.00 Dear Jane Club with Jan Vaine Saturdays, November 11, December 9, and January 13 1:00-3:30pm Brenda Papadakis authored the book, “Dear Jane”, to recreate the wonderful quilt made by Jane Stickle in 1863. This quilt and Brenda’s book have inspired quilters for the past 20 years! Join Jan on this quilting journey to make your version of Jane’s intriguing quilt. The techniques learned while working on the blocks will add to or improve upon your quilting skills, from machine to hand piecing, English paper piecing, and hand applique. This is an ongoing club and you can join at any time. Cost: $45.00 for class quarter, $26.00 book Embroidery Club with Anne Morgan First Wednesday of every month 2:00-8:00pm Do you own an embroidery machine but haven’t really used it? Join us the first Wednesday of each month for an afternoon of stitching and networking. Arrive any time after 2 but around 6 we will have show and tell, snacks followed by a hands-on project or demonstration. Many of our members come after work, so don’t hesitate to join us on your way home! Leave your e-mail address at the store and we will send you meeting information each month. Cost: $5.00 per session, pay in classroom English Paper Piecing Support Club with Robyn Nelson* Fridays, November 10, December 8, January 12 12:30-3:30pm Newbies and seasoned EPP'ers are welcome. We will meet once a month to share our progress, learn new/different techniques and wonder in amazement at each others progress. This beautiful quilt would be a great scrap buster! It is also a good carry along project...great for picking up and putting down. You can work on it whenever you have a few minutes or several hours while traveling. Cost: $10.00 per session Featherweight Maintenance with Buck Nesbitt Saturday, December 16 10:30am-1:30pm Learn the fundamentals of Singer Featherweight Maintenance. Includes comprehensive instruction on oiling, lubrication and cleaning. Cost: $35.00 for class Flange Binding with Nancy Wines* Tuesday, December 5 10:30am-12:30pm This is a great binding technique for those projects you want to add binding to but don’t want to sew down by hand. We’ll show you a simple technique that will add a bit of interest and flair to quilts, table toppers, runners, etc. You will absolutely love finishing your projects this way! Flip Flop Blocks with Sally Terry* Tuesday, November 7 1:30-4:30pm Got a Jelly Roll you have really been waiting to use? Here is a great way to feature those fabrics with lots of print and super colors. We will keep the center of the blocks the same contrasting fabrics to give the quilt a fresh modern look. This pattern is perfect for organizing Kaffe Fassett - Tula Pink Style Fabrics working with gorgeous intense prints and luscious colors...remember you are always safe with Kaffe :) Plus what a great way to construct a quilt with minimum cutting, quick chain piecing and no sashing to bother with, saving lots of time. Super fast with lots of visual oomph! Cost: $22.50 for class, pattern provided in class Free Motion Freedom Feathers with Sally Terry* Tuesday, January 16 6:00-9:00pm Learn to free motion feathers with a simple little technique that means you never have to be perfect. We learn to feather a spine and feather a stencil without marking or with very little marking. This is a great class to get find out how your hands and eyes and brain work together at the machine. Are you right feathered? Or are you left feathered? We will find out how to orient your fabric, move your hands and where to focus your eyes. Cost: $22.50 for class Gerber Daisies with Jan Vaine* Friday, November 10 1:00-4:00pm Gerber Daisies is one of the 48 blocks found in Jan's pattern, Spring Tapestry. This class block highlights silk ribbon embroidery, stitched with luscious silk ribbons for the daisies and beautiful overdyed thread for the embroidered stems and leaves. Thecompleted project may be made into a stunning pincushion, framed as a gift, or become the beginning of your own Spring Tapestry quilt. Cost: $24.00 for class, $ KIT Harmony Mills with Michele Maron Sundays, January 21 and 28 1:00-4:00pm This is a beautiful wall hanging I made recently at a retreat with Red Crinoline Quilts. I love to decorate my sewing room and family areas with quilts and this is the perfect size! We will work with spinning star papers for PERFECT half square triangles. I will provide the Spinning Star Paper for this class, but you'll want your own - all sizes available - best invention EVER!!!!! Cost: $22.50 for class, pattern given in class Yellow Brick Road with Michele Maron* Mondays, January 8, 15, and 22 6:00-9:00pm This is one of the most recommended beginner quilts out there and I love it!! I STILL use this pattern for quilts and baby quilts. We will be making the lap size. CLASS POLICIES Classes are reserved on a first come, first served basis. You are only guaranteed a spot in the class if you have paid for it. We can take a credit card over the phone, you can order online or come in. Our system does not allow us to hold a spot without payment. -- Store credits will only be given for a cancellation made 6 days before the scheduled class. For cancellations made 2-5 days prior to class, store credits will be provided for 50% of the class fee to your customer account. NO refunds will be given for the "no shows" or cancellations made within 24 hours of the class. Please note teachers are not required to offer make up classes. -- You will be notified 5 days prior to class date if the class does not make and we will refund the full class fee. -- Class fees DO NOT include supplies or pattern unless stated in the class description. -- We try to start classes on time. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of class to set up and get last minute supplies. Be ready when class begins. For before/after hour classes, we will open the doors 20 minutes before class begins. -- Children under 18 and guests are not permitted in adult classes. -- Please be familiar with the machine you are using. Please remember the power cords, foot pedal and all accessories (manual if needed). -- Please make sure your class will make before you buy supplies. A supply list will be given at the time of sign ups and are available on our website, www.cinnamonsquilts.com. Patterns and cut yardage are non-returnable. -- If an item is needed for class that is a special order, all orders must be received no later than the Monday of the week before class to ensure item will be delivered in time for class. This excludes possible backorders that are beyond our control. -- If you have signed up for a retreat or special event, store credit will be given only if we can fill your spot. Many times this is possible because we have a waiting list. We will try our hardest to fill the vacant spot, but no promises. Upcoming Events

2018 North Florida Shop Hop: Flamingos through the Seasons Saturday, January 13 through Saturday, January 20 10am-5pm Mon-Sat, 12-4 Sun $5 passport Sit and Stitch with EGA Sunday, February 11, 2018 12:00-4:00pm duClay Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America (EGA) will be hosting a sit and stitch on Sunday afternoon noon to 4pm. This is open to anyone - EGA membership is not required. Come stitch with us for an hour or all afternoon. Bring your hand sewing, EPP, punch needle, surface embroidery, wool applique, cross stitch, needlepoint or anything done with a needle. Please no machines due to space constraints for this event. Retreat: Men Only February 16-18, 2018 Join us for the first Men Only sewing retreat at Cinnamon's Quilt Shoppe. Bring your machines and projects for 3 days of sewing and fun with other men who quilt. Cost is $45 for all 3 days. Breakfast will be served on Saturday and Sunday.
