a regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was posted in the US Post Office, Outlaw Cafe and the Community Hall on April 23, 2018. The Trustees convened in open and public session at the Community Hall for a regu-lar meeting at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Randall Horst called the meeting to order. Trustees present were Randall Horst, Richard Egging, Eli Weyerts and Joe Schoolcraft. Lloyd Searles was excused. Present were Leigh Niekum, Village Clerk. Bernice Russell and Josh Kruse was also in attendance.

Chairman Randall Horst announced the Village of Gurley would follow the State mandate for open meetings. Declared the Open Meeting Act is posted on the east wall of the Community Hall Meeting Room.

Minutes of the March 26, 2018, regular meet-ing were read and minutes were approved.

Disbursements were reviewed. Old business:Horst reported that all

funds from the two acci-dents from November 2017 have been received and work can begin on replac-ing the cemetery fence. Target date is prior to Memorial Day. Discussion was also held on the tree grant and status of tree removal.

New Business:Discussion was held on

authorization for insurance releases in the case of the two highway accidents. Schoolcraft made a motion to allow the Chairman to sign on any releases that are requested. Weyerts seconded the motion. Roll call vote: Horst, Egging, Weyerts, Schoolcraft – all Yea. Nay – none. Motion carried.

Update on the street light that was damaged on the north end of town dur-ing the November 2017 accidents. Contact will be made with the State of Nebraska Highway Department on if/when it will be replaced.

Randy reported on the ACE appreciation Ice Cream social event. Discussion was also held on estab-lishing a Boy Scout Camp scholarship fund with the ACE money. A motion was made by Weyerts and sec-onded by Schoolcraft to set aside funds for a Boy Scout Camp Scholarship fund. Roll call vote: Horst, Egging, Weyerts, Schoolcraft – all Yea. Nay – none. Motion carried.

Discussion was held on a date for the May meet-ing due to conflict with Memorial Day. It was decid-ed to meet on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

Employee Reports:Niekum reported on

correspondence received. Discussion Items:Discussion was held

regarding diesel pump, choice gas prices, crushed concrete, trash pickup, condition of alleys, cham-ber meetings and ACE.

Horst requested a motion to enter closed session to discuss employ-ee matters. Schoolcraft made a motion to enter closed session, Egging seconded. Roll Call Vote: Horst, Egging, Weyerts, Schoolcraft – all Yea. Nay – None. Motion carried.

A Motion was made by Weyerts and seconded by Egging to exit the closed session. Roll call Vote: Horst, Egging, Weyerts, Schoolcraft – all yea. Nay – None. Motion carried.
