Class Two trip to Shadwell Fire Station
On 11th October, Class Two travelled to Shadwell Fire Station to find out more about the Great Fire of London. We looked at the clothes that the
firemen used to wear in Victorian times. We also had a chance to experience how it feels to wear them.
The brave group of children from Year 2 also visited Pudding Lane where the fire started. The children and adults walked up the 311 steps to admire
the view of London.
Thank you to all the parents for their great help
during the trip! Class Two is looking forward to our next trip.
Collective Worship
For the first time our Faith Group ran our collective worship this Monday. They introduced our weekly topic of Faith. They started
with a game where Evi (year 6) had to have faith in his little brother Eden (year 1) that he would catch him as he fell backwards.
Evi showed real faith in his brother and with the little help of Mr Sharp was caught by Eden.
The children then acted out the story of Daniel in the Lion’s den, where Daniel shows great faith in God even though he is close to
death. There were certainly some very convincing lions!
Nina (year 6) then got the children to think what we can learn from this story. Eliza (year 3) then finished our collective
worship with a prayer which she had written
herself.

very creative with the colours and their designs. In November you will be sent an invitation to the Grand Opening of the Brockwell Passage! On that
day we will reveal the winner of the Brockwell Passage Tag Competition. Watch the space!
A big thank you to the parents that helped
with decorating the passage. We are sure
you enjoyed that as much as the children!
Thank you to all of the children that took part in
the Brockwell Passage Tag Competition. We are
going to announce the winner at the Grand
Opening in November.
Black History Month Author Visit!
St Jude's were lucky enough to have the pleasure of story telling sessions run by Faustin Charles, author of The Selfish Crocodile and Once Upon an Animal.
Faustin Charles 'reads and creates amazing books and stories.' Kenzie (Y6)
Faustin Charles hails from Trinidad and told us that he grew up hearing his Grandma's stories and that was what encouraged him to write his own. 'When he was young, his brother was the sporty
one but he told us he liked books and poems.' Kiara (Y6) Every child experienced his story telling and he even asked some children to come up and act out his stories! He finished some sessions with a fun game that has already been played in the playground. The whole school was buzzing with enjoyment after his sessions. He is a fantastic story teller. 'He was hilarious when
he was acting out his belly rumble.' Joshua Y6 He is such an inspiration for our Family Learning Project - he travelled from the Caribbean to London so that he could publish his stories. What determination!
Parrots in Brockwell Park
Class 1 had some very special visitors this week. Lucy Reynolds and Jenna Herman from our local community came in to share their new book with our class. The book hasn't even been published yet! We listened to the story - about two children and parrots in a park - and spotted parrots in the beautiful illustrations. We then had to act as book critics and gave our feedback on the story. It was such an exciting morning and the children were so enthusiastic and imaginative.
Jaiye's favourite part was 'when the parrots came out of the tree.' Theadora liked the parts 'when the boy was telling his sister about the parrots.'
And Stella thought it was funny 'when the girl didn't believe that parrots existed in the city.'
Here are some words we chose to describe the book: colourful - Anna sneaky (parrots) - Ena jolly - Bill
Thank you so much to Lucy and Jenna for sharing their wonderful story and we look forward to reading it again when it is published!
