• This article discussed a research study done with three different history classes. In each one of the schools where the survey was done technology was not used. The overall response was, “classes used digital technology in the belief that they knew better than their teacher how to pursue a school information-focused agenda”(Lacina, 2009).

My ThoughtsMy Thoughts• I find this article interesting because I did not

start using technology in the classroom until about fifth grade and remembering sharing computers in the classroom that were not up to date. However, today technology is everywhere and I think that young people do understand a great deal of it better than their elders because they have grown up with it. The quote from a few slides earlier really stood out to me because I think this is a thought that most students think many times throughout their education.

Great Britian and London both half about half of their classrooms equipped with an interactive whiteboard. In the United States areas are beginning to spend thousands of dollars in order to have these boards in the classroom. Still, there is the question, is it worth it?

• After look into cost and education, this particular author, Jan Lacina, finds it more important to have smaller classrooms with a more intimate learning atmosphere. As much as the whiteboards may be helpful, they need to be used in the particular areas of learning they can be beneficial. In addition, to keep that classroom up to date with all the emerging technology would be almost impossible. I now see that, as a teacher, I will have to pick a choose certain technologies to have in my classroom and will need to research and think about the benefits that will come from each one.

to reach a large audience to benefit due to the cost of technology. There are thousands of schools and not every single one is going to be helped by the government. I think it is very hard to pick and choose certain schools that should receive state of the art technology and others that will not receive any. I think this makes funding very difficult and that it is important to use the technology where it will be most beneficial and not just because it is available.
