Brief overview of the system
Peg is comprised of three main elements:
(1) a set of sustainability / well-being indicators;(2) a transparent and open process for the selection and review
of indicators; and (3) a set of communication tools, the main component of which
is a visually appealing and user-friendly platform (4) Includes 61 indicators(5) Uses Drupal (a common web development platform); open-
source, turnkey software framework; uses ontologies to connect concepts, and uses URIs so that data can be interoperable between systems.

How can Peg help to encourage action?
Primary criteria for community indicator selection: • The data shows a state or trend that will encourage members of
the community to do their part to improve well-being;• Aiming at deep-rooted well-being challenges (egg. causes of
poverty): indicators that capture the state of aspects of wellbeing (though they may not be actionable by ordinary citizens);
• Ability to link issues, causes and solutions so impacts of actions can be tracked
• Identify best/most relevant entry-points for action by agencies

• Longer-term trends cca. from 2000 or 2002

• Support division of labour between agencies based on their mandate
