CULTURAL ARTS AWARDS

The City of Pompano Beach recognizes the outstanding creativity taking place in the City by awarding up to six recipients in different artistic disciplines.

In order to be nominated for this award, the arts organization or artist must have been presenting their art programs in the city for a minimum of five (5) years in the categories of visual arts, dance, music, photography, theater, or spoken word. The 2nd Annual Cultural Arts Awards Gala takes place at 6:30 pm on May 2, 2020 at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. This program is presented by the Pompano Beach Cultural Arts Committee, an advisory body appointed by the Pompano Beach Mayor and City Commissioners.

CRITERIA• Must be a Pompano Beach resident or organization.• Must have been presenting their art program for a minimum of five years• The art program must take place within the City of Pompano Beach

AWARDSEach winner will receive a trophy engraved with their name and discipline and winners’ names will be included on the permanent plaque housed at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. In addition, winners will have a table for their guests at the Awards Gala and will have an opportunity to be showcased at one of the cultural venues at a future event.

The following items MUST be submitted with this application• Letter of recommendation• Resume• Video of up to two minutes in duration on a thumb drive

HONORABLE MENTIONSThere will be two honorable mentions for Pompano Beach arts educators and emerging artists, nominations will be accepted. Nominees need to submit a resume, two JPGs of their art or artwork, and a letter of recommendation. Recipients will receive certificates.

ABOUT THE

CULTURAL ARTS COMMITTEE

Created in 1998, the Cultural Arts Committee is an advisory body comprised of Pompano Beach residents who have been appointed by the Pompano Beach Mayor and City Commissioners. Their mission is to become familiar with the cultural arts, events, vendors, structures and related organizations that affect and involve the citizens of Pompano Beach. In so doing, this group provides appropriate advice, observations and support to those endeavors that will help the community benefit and grow from cultural arts in Pompano Beach. The Cultural Arts Committee helps to promote the development of quality cultural opportunities to all residents in order to increase awareness, help residents gain access and have a better understanding and experience of the importance of cultural arts in the community.
