PAGE OF ISH!?!
Here we go with another one, Folks! Whereas “Haunted Planet” ISH 3 featured the story of “Schubal”. This
installment of “City Hare” features the story of “$hark Face!”. STAY TOON’D for further developments…
PREVIOUSLY, IN “COLLEGE LIFE”
You might be wondering where you recognize Nina Jones, our token studious hood girl,
from. If you’ve been keeping up with the comics or happened to live in South Florida
during the Fall and Winter semesters at USF, you might know her from “College Life”.
Well, it just so happens that she and “City Hare” have a little history. See…I told you the
Motown KomiX community was intertwined.
STAY TOON’D!?!
OH NOW…WHAT THE EFF-UCK?!? I’ve
got to admit, “Da’ Graveyard” was the hardest
“City Hare” book to complete (yeah, I knocked
on wood for that one). Not only was I in the
process of a cross country move, but my car is
out of commission and I’ve been battling it out
with West Milford county. It’s all good though,
lesson learned…
The real fucked up thing about it is that it all started when I decided to redesign the cover
for this issue of “City Hare”. I wasn’t happy with the way the other one turned out. I
thought it was good, but lazy. I’m not even sure at what point the idea came to me, but I
went on with it any way. Coincidentally, I’d just started a new job where I literally
worked the graveyard shift. Ironically, the title of ISH 5 actually pays homage to the
Big L track: “Da’Graveyard”. So there’s an English lesson hidden in there somewhere.
Who ever figures it out will get the 2 fucks I forgot to give.
It’s out of character for me to talk about my personal life with my readers, but I
thought it’d be interesting. This
is eerie like that shit they say
about the Wizard of Oz and that
little midget dude hanging in the
far back of the set…yeah, it’s
that kind of eerie. I’m sure I’ll
have nightmares when I’m done
typin’ this shit…DAMN!?! What
else can I say?
Hopefully ya’ll enjoy the
direction the story is taking. There’s still a lot of story left
to be told, so bear with me. City Hare is constantly
evolving and I never imagined that the strips would
develop into books. What started out as a doodle in a
bakery in Washington Heights, became a comic strip
drawn in my dorm room at Michigan State and later, a
book drawn in the basement at my Momz’ place in tha’ D.
City Hare’s been drawn all over the place, now, but this is
just the beginning…
