MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CITY OF GROSSE

POINTE WOODS HELD ON MONDAY EVENING, JANUARY 5, 1998, IN THE

COUNCIL-COURT ROOM OF THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, 20025 MACK PLAZA,

GROSSE POINTE WOODS, MICHIGAN.

The meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. by Mayor Novitke.

Mayoral appointments of Council Members to General Organizations made a part of the

minutes by attachment hereto and identified as Exhibit D.



Motion by Granger, supported by Fahrner, that the City Council AUTHORIZE the following

Mayoral appointments of Council Members to General Organizations made a part of the

minutes by attachment hereto and identified as Exhibit E.



Motion by Granger, supported by Fahrner, that the City Council voice NO OBJECTION toTABLE the Mayoral appointments of the three vacancies to the Senior Citizens'

Commission to February 23,1998.



Hearing no objection, the Chair DIRECTED the following Commissions/Committees

disband:

Motion by Steiner, supported by Dansbury, that the Council concur with the

recommendation of the Finance Committee in its minutes of December 15, 1997, andAPPROVE the 1997/98 Budget Amendment #2 transfer in the amount of $19,000.00

to Account No. 101.305.810.000 (Contractual) in the amount of $10,000 (TrafficStudy) and to Account No. 101.339.960.000 (Training) in the amount of $9,000allowed for Public Safety Officer Training.



Motion by Steiner, supported by Dansbury, that the Council concur with therecommendation of the Finance Committee in its minutes of December 15, 1997, andAPPROVE the 1997/98 Budget Adjustment #1 in the amount of $18,000.00 to beadded to Account No. 365.993.818.000 (Contractual) for the purchase of restricted

flow catch basin covers.



The following individual wished to be heard regarding the city street sweeper and

noise ordinance:

JOSEPH SIMON1191 S. Renaud

Motion by Steiner, supported by Granger, that the City Council concur with therecommendation of the City Administrator and the Director of Public Services andauthorize the purchase of a 1998 Elgin Pelican "P" three-wheel Street Sweeper (with atrade of the 1986 Elgin Pelican Sweeper) for a total cost of $88,000.00 from BellEquipment Company, 78 Northpointe Drive, Lake Orion, Michigan, 48359, and thatthe expenditure be charged against the appropriate 1997198 budget account.

Motion by Steiner, supported by Dickinson, to TABLE the Noise C)rdinance - PublicServices Vactor Truck item to January 19, 1998, at the request of the Petitioner,

Joseph Simon, 1191 S. Renaud.



Motion by Granger, supported by Dansbury, that the following BE APPROVED for

payment:

1. Statement dated December 19, 1997 - City Attorney -in the amount of $7,928.50 for services renderedin December, 1997.



Under New Business and hearing no objection, City Administrator Thomas gave a

report regarding the dry dockage rate increase approved on December 15, 1997.

Motion by Steiner, supported by Granger, that the City Council concur with therecommendation of the City Administrator and the Director of Public Servicesregarding boat dockage permit fees, that, in accordance with the 1997 City CodeSection 94-8-c, boat dockage permit fees for 1998 be hereby adjusted by resolution

as follows:
