City Approves $25,000 Grant for New DowntownRetail Center
Friendswood City Council recentlyapproved a $25,000 economicincentive grant for TannosConstruction and Development,LLC., to construct a new 18,477square foot retail center in downtownFriendswood. The new $2.69 millioncenter will be located at the corner ofFriendswood Drive and Echo Laneat 802 and 804 S. FriendswoodDrive. Between Us Tea Room andNRL Mortgage will be tenants in thenew center with approximately 15,574 square feet of lease space remaining. In addition, due tothe center's location in the City's Downtown Neighborhood Empowerment Zone, all Cityrelateddevelopment fees will be waived including water and wastewater impact fees with an estimatedsavings to the developer of approximately $17,000. Since 2008, the City has awarded $185,000 to businesses through the Chapter 380 MunicipalGrant Program which, in turn, has created $17.14 million in new taxable value, added 114,787square feet of commercial space, and created or retained 175 jobs in the city. Dr. Monir Moghaddam has operated Friendswood FamilyChiropractic Clinic in downtown Friendswood since 2002. Sheoffers the latest technology in nonsurgical spinaldecompression, cold laser therapy, nutrition counselling, andacupuncture services. In 2012, with the assistance of the City ofFriendswood's municipal grant program, Dr. Moghaddamrelocated and expanded her clinic to its current location at 1111S. Friendswood Drive, occupying 2,000 square feet with twoemployees.
Dr. Moghaddam has been a resident of Friendswood for overtwentysix years. She grew up in Urmia, West Azarbaijan, Iran, and later moved to Besancon,France where she studied and eventually married in 1980. After immigrating to the UnitedStates, she lived in Pearland before moving to Friendswood. Dr. Moghaddam said "Besides thegreat schools and city amenities, my family has always felt very safe here and we love thelocation and proximity to everything." Dr. Moghaddam graduated from San Jacinto College withan associate of art in science degree. She then attended the University of Houston MainCampus. Later she went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in human biology and herDoctorate from Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena in 2000. Dr. Moghaddam said "I loveliving and working in Friendswood. People are more attentive about their health in seekingprompt medical care." She has completed over four years of chiropractic clinical rotations at theMoody Health Center and has trained with Dr. Edward Murphy, Neurosurgeon at MethodistHospital. To stay current, Dr. Moghaddam has participated in extensive training and researchand has spent hundreds of hours reviewing the latest information in a variety of health relatedfields. Dr. Moghaddam is certified by the Texas Board ofChiropractic Examiners and the National Board ofChiropractic Examiners. She is a member of both theAmerican and Texas Chiropractic Association. Additionally,she has received the Certificate of Proficiency in ClinicalElectrophysiology Evaluation (Clinical Electromyography),the Award of Excellence in Applied Clinical Nutrition,Certificates in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis andTherapy of the Lumbar, Cervical and Thoracic Spine,International Chiropractic Pediatric Association ofProficiency in the Webster Technique, and the Acupuncture Certification Program. Dr. Moghaddam staysactive in the community with the Friendswood Chamber ofCommerce and Friendswood Rotary Club. Dr. Moghaddam provides patients with highquality chiropractic care through a corrective andwellness approach. Individualized care is what sets Dr. Moghaddam apart from others in herfield.
