Known Limitations

The following known limitations exist within the J4.7 software release.

TANDBERG

Ref. ID

Equipment

Limitations

44787 TANDBERG Movi version 1.0 software version 2.45.1.3

Voice Switching calls with the MPS may cause poor video during voice switches. This is due to the lack of support for the RTCP fast update mechanism on Movi. To resolve this issue, disable Optimal Voice Switching on the MPS conference.

N/A TANDBERG MXP version F5.2 Due to changes in the Fast Update mechanisms within the J4.x software, SIP calls will not be supported between J4.x software and F5.2 or previous versions. F5.3 and later will be supported.

49876 TANDBERG MPS software version J4.0, J4.1, J4.2, J4.3 and J4.5

It has been observed in rare occasions that the video text may show a pulsing effect when set to ‘On.’

51397 TANDBERG MPS software version J4.2, J4.3 and J4.5

The Encoder Selection Policy does not work as expected when Optimal Voice Switching is enabled and the Layout is set to Auto.

49056 TANDBERG MPS software version J4.2, J4.3 and J4.5

It has been observed that a high number of encrypted SIP calls may cause an unexpected restart. Encrypted SIP calls is a Beta feature, and you should not run with Encrypted SIP calls in a production environment, it has limited support and is for evaluation and testing use only.

51414 TANDBERG MPS software version J4.3 and J4.5

Calling through an MPS GW using encryption connecting to an MPS MCU Single Number Dial In may result in no audio or video. During this time however you may connect to a conference or create a new conference by entering the conference ID or pressing #.

72204 TANDBERG MPS all software versions

If text fields within Conference Templates (Name, Billing Code, Password) are saved with data in them, it is not possible to delete this data when creating a conference using this template. The data can be changed, it just cannot be left blank or it will be used.

SOFTWARE RELEASE NOTES FOR TANDBERG MPS VERSION J4.6

   Introduction

These release notes describe the features and capabilities included in the TANDBERG MPS software version J4.6 released on 16 March 2011.

New Features

J4.6 is a maintenance release only and does not include any new features or functionality when compared to J4.5.

Changes and Improvements since Previous Version

Gateway

URI Dialing

The MPS Gateway will now strip the domain portion of a URI dialed call before attempting to dial the ISDN number. In previous releases the entire URI would have been sent to the ISDN switch to be called [Ref. 68686].

System

Password Reset

Corrected an issue where using the “pwrec” password reset on the serial port may have caused the password file to become corrupted. When this occurred, access to the system using the new password was denied. The system will now allow resetting of the password without corrupting the file [Ref. 64191].

Note: “pwrec” can only be accessed via the serial port for the first 60 seconds after startup. The password cannot be changed within the first 24 hours after enabling security level 1 or 2. Strict password may also apply if enabled on the system.

Web

Phonebook Characters

It is now possible to use the ”&” symbol within phonebook entries. In previous releases this character was rejected as illegal even though it was not listed in the popup error [Ref. 60184].

 Network Profiles

The MPS no longer shows Call Suffix as a valid option on the MCU Configuration > Network Profiles page. In previous releases this was listed with no editable fields below it as it was not a valid option on the MPS [Ref. 63940].

 Conferencing

Default Call Type

It is now possible to set H.323 as the default call type for MCU calls. This allows the system to call as H.323 even if H.320 network is available and the called number is numeric. In previous releases the MPS would choose H.320 networks if available and the called number was numeric. This setting is available via the API using the following command [Ref. 34397].

xConfiguration MCU AutoCallTypeH323: <On/Off>

On = H.323 will be default call type

Off = Current behaviour where H.320 will be used if available

Wrong Password sound

The MPS will now play the Wrong Password audio file as well as present the Wrong Password poster when an incorrect conference password has been entered. In previous releases only the poster was presented, the audio file was never played [Ref. 40841].

 Ad-hoc Conference Settings

Corrected an issue where the MPS would set Secondary Rate to Off on ad-hoc conferences even though the appropriate template used had it set to On [Ref. 66779].

 AVO Resource Leak

Corrected an issue where the MPS would lose 1 AVO resource each time a call connected via the Single Number Dial In and then moved into a Static conference. This led to AVO resource errors when trying to add participants to calls when there were available resources for the call [Ref. 71243].

 Single Participant Notification

It is now possible to disable the visual and audible notification when only 1 participant is in a conference. When disabled the MPS will transmit the video it is receiving but will not loop audio. This setting is available via the API using the following API command [Ref. 42799].

xConfiguration MCU OnlyParticipantPoster: <On/Off>

On = The MPS will play sound and send poster

Off = The MPS will loop video back but not audio

Disconnecting Telephone Calls

The MPS will no longer terminate telephone only calls that were initiated as video. In previous releases, if the MPS initiated the call as Video yet only connected as Telephone, it would disconnect the call after 3 minutes. We now correctly identify the audio only capabilities and release the video resources leaving the call connected as telephone [Ref. 80328].

Audio

Disable AAC-LD Audio

It is now possible to disable AAC-LD audio for MCU calls. This is available through the API using the following command [Ref. 75067].

xConfiguration MCU AAC-LD: <On/Off>

On = The MPS will allow the use of AAC-LD audio

Off = The MPS will not allow the use of AAC-LD audio

Changes and Improvements since Previous Version

System

Memory Overwrite

Corrected an issue where video memory may have been overwritten causing an unexpected restart [Ref. 50894].

 Password Reset

Corrected an issue where using the “pwrec” password reset on the serial port may have caused the password file to become corrupted. When this occurred, access to the system using the new password was denied. The system will now allow resetting of the password without corrupting the file [Ref. 51391].

Note: “pwrec” can only be accessed via the serial port for the first 60 seconds after startup. The password cannot be changed within the first 24 hours after enabling security level 1 or 2. Strict password may also apply if enabled on the system.

 H.224 Buffer

Corrected an issue where a memory leak within the H.224 buffer system may have caused an unexpected restart [Ref. 54797].

 H.323 Valid Connection Test

The MPS system will now test for valid connections in H323 calls to prevent an unexpected restart [Ref. 53676].

 Additive Registrations

Corrected an issue where the MPS may have tried unregistering an alias that was not yet registered. This may have caused other active calls running at the time to disconnect [Ref. 55227].

 Encrypted H.320 Calls

Corrected an issue that may have caused an unexpected restart under high load when H.320 sites used encryption [Ref. 52843].

 Personal Conference Dial Out

In previous versions of software the MPS would fail to connect any dial out sites if the number of sites was greater than the configured conference limit. This has now been corrected and the MPS will dial out and connect sites up to the conference limit before failing on the remaining sites that exceed this limit [Ref. 56757].

 H.243 Disconnect

Corrected an issue where a site disconnecting from a personal conference may have caused all sites in that conference to disconnect due to an error within the H.243 mechanism [Ref. 57278].

 H.239 Overtake

Corrected an issue where an unexpected restart may have occurred if the floor holder in a conference was sending H.239 and another site in the conference attempted to overtake the dual streams using Duo Video [Ref. 60461].

Page 25: Cisco TelePresence MPS · Cisco TelePresence MPS J4 Software Release Notes D50490 Page 11 of 77!!!!! Polycom!! Ref. ID! Equipment! Limitations 32750 Polycom MGC version 8.0.0.27 MPS

 Invalid JPEG Welcome Slide

Corrected an issue where an invalid JPEG image uploaded as the Welcome Slide may have caused an unexpected restart. The system will now verify the image is valid upon upload [Ref. 53787].

 HTTP/HTTPS Pointer

Corrected an issue where the MPS web server may have called an invalid pointer which may have caused an unexpected restart [Ref. 58704].

Gateway

FECC

Corrected an issue where FECC was only possible on the first active call through the MPS GW [Ref. 53528].

 Incoming V.35 Calls

Corrected an issue which prevented incoming V.35 calls from connecting to the GW which would cause them to be disconnected [Ref.54032].

 H.264 Video Error

Corrected an issue in the H.264 video encoder which may have prevented video from being sent on the H.323 side of a gateway video call from a Codian ISDN GW [Ref. 55039].

 Gateway Files Web Page

The Files web page within Gateway Configuration has been removed. Files for the Gateway can now only be uploaded under the System Configuration > Language page [Ref. 55994].

 Invalid GW dialing Rule

The MPS will now check dialing rules as they are entered to verify they are valid. In previous releases it was possible to enter invalid rules which may have caused unexpected restarts when the rules were invoked [Ref. 54027].

Web

IPv6 Support for HTTP/HTTPS

It is now possible to access the MPS using HTTP or HTTPS over IPv6. In previous versions HTTP and HTTPS access was only possible using IPv4 [Ref. 55320].

The MPS web page no longer includes fields for configuring Multiway prefixes under MCU Configuration > Dial In Numbers. These configuration options are still available via the API using the following commands [Ref. # NA].

xConfiguration PrefixDialIn Gatekeeper H323Alias: ""

xConfiguration PrefixDialIn Gatekeeper H323EncryptedAlias: ""

SIP

BFCP Dual Stream

Corrected an issue that may have prevented a site from sending Dual Stream after it had already sent and stopped Dual Steam [Ref. # 52629].

 SIP Ad-Hoc Resources

Corrected an issue where SIP ad-hoc video calls may have consumed 1 video and 1 telephone resource upon connection [Ref. # 54430].

Inter-Op

Sony DTMF Tones

Certain Sony endpoints would send both in-band and out of band DTMF tones resulting in duplicate tones when entering passwords and conference ID’s. The MPS will now ignore out of band DTMF tones from Sony endpoints and only use the audible in-band tones [Ref. # 49369].

 Improved SIP Support

Improved inter-operability when connecting to SIP only endpoints by adding support for H.264 within the MPS initial capset as well as the initial poster phase. In previous versions only H.263 and H.261 was supported in these states which may have caused SIP only endpoints such as TANDBERG Movi to not receive video even after fully connecting to the intended conference [Ref. # 57850].

 OCS 2007 R2

Changed message handling within SIP to always send Update messages as Re-Invite messages as OCS does not support Update [Ref. # 59099].

Phonebook

Upgrade Error

Corrected an issue where long phonebook names may have been truncated during a software upgrade leaving only the first 31 characters of the name intact [Ref. # 54256].

 Invalid Characters

Corrected an issue where invalid characters in a Group Entry name may have caused the entire phonebook to not show. The MPS will now reject invalid characters in the name upon creation of the Group Entry [Ref. # 51194].

 Conferencing

Single Number Dial In

Corrected an issue where the Please Enter Conference ID sound may have been played too soon when calling into the Single Number Dial In feature on the MPS. This would result in sites only hearing the last part of the message [Ref. # 43366].

 Flow Control Video Rates

The MPS will now use flow control to lower the incoming video rates for sites not shown at all within the CP window. The MPS will flow control to the original rates if that site becomes active within the CP window [Ref. # 59625].

H.239

Low Rate Encoder

Corrected an issue that may have caused a site that is sending Dual Steams to drop to the QCIF low rate encoder. This was caused by the lower video rate on the main channel while H.239 was active [Ref. # 53809].

Network

Quality of Service (QoS)

The MPS will now tag RTCP packets with the QoS values assigned to the corresponding RTP packets [Ref. # 62505].

H.243

Site Names

Corrected an issue where site names may have stopped working after an H.323 telephone site had connected to a conference [Ref. # 56586].

Security

SOFTWARE RELEASE NOTES FOR TANDBERG MPS VERSION J4.2

Introduction

These release notes describe the features and capabilities included in the TANDBERG MPS software version J4.2 released on 29 February 2008.

New Features

Video

NTSC Video Resolutions in Continuous Presence

With software release J4.2, the TANDBERG MPS now supports the encoding of NTSC video formats such as SIF and 4SIF when in continuous presence mode. In previous software versions the MPS would encode using CIF or 4CIF, leading to scaling and, in some cases, cropping of video when using NTSC- format systems. The MPS will automatically choose to send video using SIF or 4SIF when more than 50% of the connected systems are sending NTSC resolutions to the MPS otherwise CIF or 4CIF will be used. This feature may be disabled if desired using the following API command:

xConfiguration AllowNTSCCP: <On/Off>

Note: Default setting is ‘on’ which allows NTSC formats to be used.

Network

Microsoft OCS 2007 Support

J4.2 software supports integration with Microsoft Office Communication Server (OCS) 2007. This allows an MPS to place and receive SIP calls with other devices registered to the OCS SIP cloud. This release also supports the ability for presence to be conveyed to the OCS and, therefore, reflected on the OCS clients that have those conferences added in the buddy list.

Availability Available on all MPS MCU configurations.

Restrictions MPS must be configured as a trusted host within OCS server.

Static routes must be added to OCS server pointing to MPS.

Presence is only available for Personal Conferences.

Changes and Improvements since Previous Version

Gateway

New Configurable Call Rate

It is now possible to configure a maximum call rate of 320k within a gateway rule [Ref. # 43526].

Conferencing

Automatic Dial-out Verification

The MPS will now verify if SIP sites are already connected when a Personal Conference is started and is configured to automatically dial participants. This verification uses the SIP URI that is to be dialed and checks that against the specific conference and the waiting room. If the site is already connected the MPS will exclude that site when dialing out [Ref. # 49892].

 Automatic Dial-out to Same Number

The MPS will now allow a Personal Conference to automatically dial out to a number that is already connected to a different conference. This will allow automated connections to audio conferencing bridges or similar devices where the same number may be dialed to reach different destinations [Ref. # 48334].

Video

Frozen Video in CP Calls

Corrected an issue where frozen video could occur during CP calls when using the Conference Selfview Off feature [Ref. # 50022].

Resolution and Format Changes while Downspeeding

Corrected an issue where the video format and resolution could have constantly changed when a site was downspeeding due to packet loss. The site will now downspeed normally without resolution changes [Ref. # 49451].

Buffer Leak

Corrected an issue where an MPS configured with no default gateway on the media card may have caused an unexpected restart due to a buffer leak [Ref. # 49561].

 Additive Registrations

The MPS will now additively register SIP Uri’s and H.323 ID’s as well as E.164 aliases for all active Personal Conferences and E.164 aliases for all active Direct Ad-hoc Conferences. In previous versions only E.164 Aliases were registered upon conference start. It is also now possible to disable this behavior so additive registration is not used. In this case only the prefixes will be registered to the gatekeeper through the API command ‘xConfiguration MCU AdditiveRegEnable: <On/Off>’ [Ref. # 46008].

 H.243 Site Naming

Corrected an issue where H.243 site names may not have been cleared out after disconnect. This could have caused incorrect site names to be displayed for sites connected in other conferences [Ref. # 49085].

 H.243 Buffer

Corrected an issue where in certain environments the H.243 buffer was insufficient in handling all H.243 messages and may have caused an unexpected restart [Ref. # 47800].

 Call Events

The MPS now includes a new ‘CallMovedFromReception’ event. This event will be sent to the management system, such as TANDBERG Management Suite (TMS), when a call is moved from the reception or waiting room and into the correct conference. This is valid for Personal Conferences, Single Number Dial In Conferences, Direct Ad-hoc Conferences as well as Static Conferences. The event will include details such as Call Reference and Conference Reference so the management system can identify which conference the site is connected to [Ref. # 45239].

 ISDN NSF Codes

Corrected an issue where NSF codes were not presented in the call setup messages on software versions J4.0 and J4.1. The MPS will now send the configured NSF codes correctly [Ref. # 49042].

 Gateway Capacity

Corrected an issue where only 5 gateway calls were possible per media card. This issue was only present in software versions J4.0 and J4.1. It is now possible to connect the correct amount of 10 gateway calls per media card [Ref. # 48528].

Known Limitations

The following known limitations exist within the J4.2 software release.

TANDBERG

Ref. ID

Equipment

It has been observed that the video text may show a pulsing effect when set to ‘On.’

49875 TANDBERG MPS software version J4.1 and J4.2

The first V.35 site that connects to a conference may not receive the H.264 capability within the MPS capabilities exchange.

50250 TANDBERG MPS software version J4.0, J4.1 and J4.2

Dialing into a new Personal Conference and then disconnecting within 3 seconds may cause other calls connected to the MPS to disconnect. This is caused by the system attempting to unregister the conference alias before it has been registered with the gatekeeper. This issue will be corrected in a future software release.

50262 TANDBERG MPS software version J4.2

When sending H.239 from an MPS MCU on H.323 through an MPS Gateway to an ISDN endpoint, reduced quality has been observed as well as slow transition times. This is due to an unusually low video rate for the H.239 stream from the MCU to the Gateway. This issue will be corrected in a future software release.

SOFTWARE RELEASE NOTES FOR TANDBERG MPS VERSION J4.1

Introduction

These release notes describe the features and capabilities included in the TANDBERG MPS software version J4.1 released on 12 November 2007.

New Features

Security

X.509 HTTPS Certificates

With software release J4.1, the TANDBERG MPS now supports manual uploading and usage of X.509 certificates for the HTTPS management connection. This allows administrators to use certificates from a trusted Certificate Authority (CA) allowing clients to connect securely without any certificate warnings.

Availability Available on MPS200 and MPS800 when HTTPS is enabled.

Restrictions Certificates must be in PEM file format.

A Passphrase must be used even when Private Key does not require it.

A restart is required for the new certificate to take affect.

 Management

MCU Resource Availability Indicator (RAI)

With software release J4.1, the TANDBERG MPS now supports RAI signaling to a gatekeeper when configured as an MCU. In previous versions RAI was only available when configured as a Gateway. This is now supported when configured as a Gateway, MCU or combo MCU/Gateway. This allows an administrator to configure the load limit at which time the MPS will send an RAI to the gatekeeper. This allows a gatekeeper to route calls to another MPS, if present, when resources are exhausted. The MCU load limit setting is available via API only using the following command.

xConfiguration MCU LoadLimit: <0-100> (0-100 is % of load where RAI will be sent)

Availability Available on MCU and Combo MCU/Gateway units.

Restrictions MPS must be registered to a gatekeeper to use RAI.

SOFTWARE RELEASE NOTES FOR TANDBERG MPS VERSION J4.0

Introduction

These release notes describe the features and capabilities included in the TANDBERG MPS software version J4.0 released on 24 July 2007.

New Features

Video

Wide Resolutions

With software release J4, the TANDBERG MPS now supports the ability to receive w288p resolution in MCU calls using continuous presence or in voice switching calls not utilizing the Optimal Voice Switching feature. This resolution, available with H.264 and H.263+ video protocols, allows sites with widescreen cameras to be seen without the letterbox effect as in previous software versions.

Availability Available on H.323, H.320 and SIP

Restrictions None

H.264 RCDO

In addition to supporting baseline H.264, the MPS now includes support for Reduced Complexity Decoding Operation (RCDO). RCDO provides another evolutionary step within the H.264 video standard, allowing quality to be maintained while reducing the complexity needed to create the transmitted image. This feature can be enabled for the gateway and the MCU independently using the following commands.

xConfiguration MCU H264RCDO: On

xConfiguration Gateway H264RCDO: On

Availability Available on H.323, H.320 and SIP

Restrictions Due to interoperability issues, RCDO is disabled by default.

CP layouts in 16:9 and 4:3

The MPS now supports all CP layouts in both a 16:9 and 4:3 layout. If all connected endpoints support 16:9 resolutions, the MPS will automatically send the selected CP layout in this format to provide the best possible experience for all connected systems. However, if all systems do not support 16:9 video formats, the MPS will revert to the standard 4:3 format to ensure all systems receive a valid video resolution.

Availability Available on H.323, H.320 and SIP during CP conferences

Restrictions AVO option is required for CP

Page 62: Cisco TelePresence MPS · Cisco TelePresence MPS J4 Software Release Notes D50490 Page 11 of 77!!!!! Polycom!! Ref. ID! Equipment! Limitations 32750 Polycom MGC version 8.0.0.27 MPS

This is useful for allowing conferences to dynamically expand and contract without reserving un-needed resources throughout the entire conference.

Availability Available for all ad hoc conferences

Restrictions None

Additive Registration

The MPS will now use additive registrations when ad hoc conferences start. This allows the MPS to register the full conference number with the gatekeeper to ensure all future calls route to the correct MPS when multiple are available. Previously only the ad hoc prefix would be registered leaving the possibility for the gatekeeper to route new calls to another MPS if registered with the same prefix.

Availability Available for H.323

Restrictions An H.323 gatekeeper that supports additive registrations is required
