Cirencester’s World War One Casualties This list, compiled by Peter Grace, was initially based on the casualties recorded on Cirencester’s two main War Memorials on the Parish Church Porch and the Memorial Centre Building in Sheep Street, formerly the X-Ray and Medical Departments of the Memorial Hospital. This is an on-going task which will be updated as and when new facts emerge. Every effort has been made to verify details, however sources are limited and the passage of time has to be taken into consideration. Inaccuracies are almost inevitable and there are some individuals whose details may never be discovered. However the intention is to complete as wide a list as possible beyond those listed on the memorials so that any additional information would gladly be received via the contacts shown on the LMHA website. Most of the detail unless otherwise stated has been obtained as follows: Personal Civilian information - National Census records Military Information Commonwealth War Graves Commission records Ancestory. Com. Casualty records Soldiers Pension, Service and Medal records. Naval records. ANZAC - Canadian and US records Individual Regimental archives.
