    SOUTH

    GEORGIA

South Georgia is our avorite place on Earth, a wilderness that mesmerizes everyone who visits with its scenic magnicence and

abundance o wildlie. Whats more, this eect does not diminish even ater repeated exposures. Combined, weve traveled to

its shores more than 140 times, yet each new exploration stirs in us the same enthusiasm and wonder that the rst did. Tus, we

could think o no better place to celebrate Zegrahms 20th anniversary!

What is this irresistible and enduring lure o South Georgia? Why is it that once is never enough? First, there are the vistas,

    pristine, varied, and awe-inspiring: bays and ords bordered by snowcapped mountains, grassy hi llsides, and cascading glaciers;

striated rock ormations; snow-covered plateaus; clis draped in huge icicles, some o them over 15 eet in length. Icebergs, calvedby the Antarctic ice shelves ar to the south, orm a labyrinth o antastical ly shaped sculptures.

Next, we have the wildlie. Well witness colonies o thousands upon thousands o majestic king penguins. Macaroni and

gentoos are also prevalent, along with snowy sheathbills, petrels, prions, and the ever-present opportunistic skuas. Four species

o albatross have chosen South Georgia as their breeding place, and we will spy the most regal o them all, the wandering

albatross, largest o all fying birds. More than one and a hal million ur seals cram the beaches, while nearby their blubbery

cousins the elephant seals snort and bellow. Reindeer graze on the hi llsides, and whaleshumpbacks, orcas, minkespopulate

    the waters we sail.

Finally, theres the romance and adventure associated with Sir Ernest Shackleton, to whom we pay homage at his Grytviken

gravesite. As we walk in the ootsteps o Shackleton and his men, their drive and heroism in the ace o lie-threatening privation

resonates across the years. We invite you to join us aboard the Clipper Adventurerand celebrate as we look back at 20 years o adventures and unorgettable

experiences, and toast to uture expeditions.

    Warmest regards,

Mike Messick, Jack Grove, Peter Harrison & Shirley Metz
