Congratulations to members, The Conference was a grand success

1st November, 2015…… was a ‘Golden Day’ in the history of Associate Banks Officers’ Association, Unit State Bank of Patiala. Comrades from nook and corner of the country had thronged the Guru Teg Bahadur Hall of Punjabi University, Patiala in multitudes, in a rare expression of solidarity and camaraderie to attend the Triennial Conference and General Body Meeting. It was a wonderful sight to see the sea of comrades, dressed colorfully, running around enthusiastically, agog with joy and overflowing energy.

The conference started with hoisting of flag by Com. B. C. Bassi Former President ABOA along with Com. Harshvardhan Madabhushi, General Secretary ABOA amidst releasing of balloons in the air.

The inaugural session of the meeting commenced by inviting the guest amidst thunderous applause and raising of slogans. The stage was set for a truly historic moment…. made memorable by the thousands of comrades who swarmed the venue and the sweat and toil of the volunteers who burnt midnight oil to create the ambience of a dream event. Shri S. A. Ramesh Rangan, Managing Director, State Bank of Patiala and other dignitaries present on the dais lit the lamp.

Shri S. A. Ramesh Rangan, Managing Director of our Bank who was the Chief Guest for the event, congratulated the entire team of Com. Chaman Singla for their historic and thunderous win in the Triennial elections for the period 2015-18. He further stated that now a big responsibility will be there on the shoulders of Com. Singla. He called upon all the Management Functionaries, members of the Association and Officers present to work together for the development of business of the Bank.

Other prominent dignitaries who graced the dais, were Shri Kalyan Mukherjee Chief General Manager (RB), Shri Haridas K.V., Chief General Manager (CB), Shri Ajay Khanna, General Manager (SAMG), Shri A. K. Sinha, General Manager (I&A), Shri Devendra Kumar, General Manager, Chandigarh Netwrok, Mrs. Vasudha Bhatt Kumar, General Manager (HR). The leaders of yester years Com. B C Bassi and Com Amar Singh, Ex President(s) ABOA were present. The Office Bearers of SBOP Retired Officers Association were also present on the occasion.

Com. Harshvardhan Madabhushi, General Secretary, ABOA Central highlighted the struggles that went into making the history of the ABOA for the last 50 years and the issues that were taken by the Federation. He also referred to the contributions of the employees and officers in the bank in ensuring economic prosperity of the nation through their service in the nook and corner of the country without bothering about the personal difficulties. They were also instrumental in bringing green revolution and ensuring food security, thereby helping the poorer sections of the society. The Officers’ have been rendering yeomen service in ensuring the successful implementation of all socio and economic poverty alleviation schemes. He also referred to the recent contribution of the Basnk officers of all Associate Banks in opening record

number of accounts under Jan Dhan Yojana, insurance schemes, the New Pension Scheme for the unorganized Sector, etc., in a record time.

He also referred to the need for protecting the Public Sector Banks and the struggles that have been launched by the ABOA in advancement of their arguments that the Public Sector Banks should not be diluted and the ownership should remain with the Government in order to serve the common man of this country.

The newly elected Managing Committee has recorded all appreciations for the confidence reposed by the members in the leadership. The list of newly elected members is given separately for the information of members.

The newly elected General Secretary appreciated the efforts being made by them for the development of the business of the Bank. He also raised some of the burning issues which were applauded by the entire membership present in the conference. He thanked each and every member for their continuous support to the Association especially during the period of elections.

The vote of thanks was presented by Com. Charanjit Singh, President ABOA, Unit SBOP.

We take this opportunity to convey our sincere thanks to the entire membership for their faith, support and for reposing confidence in the leadership by electing the entire team of Office Bearers and Members Central Council with mammoth margin. We thank Com. Harshvardhan Madabhushi, General Secretary ABOA, Central for sparing his valuable time besides his busy schedule. We convey our sincere thanks to Shri S. A. Ramesh Rangan, Managing Director, Shri Haridas K. V. CGM (CB), Shri Kalyan Mukherjee, CGM (RB), General Managers, Deputy General Managers, guests from Print & electronic media and authorities of Punjabi University. Our special thanks to all the volunteers/activist who had to work day and night for making commendable arrangements.

We are sure that this support and co-operation shall continue to available to the new team of the Association to enable them to do their best for the welfare of members and will continue to fight for the cause of officers.
