Executive Overview
CIMC Intelligent Technology Company (CIMC) and Globe Tracker International (GT) will work together to integrate Globe Tracker’s landmark tracking and communications device, the GT Communications Unit, into marine containers, trucks, truck trailers, railway cars, and in the terminals at the Port of Shenzhen and other Asian locations to be determined. Each company seeks to use the project as a vehicle to attract new business to our respective companies. The showcase is designed to run at minimum of 18 months and will provide real time and historical information on a wide range of intermodal assets.
Similar to the European Showcase, Globe Tracker and CIMC are preparing to demonstrate breakthrough technology in Asia, which will provide visibility and more importantly; business intelligence to the industry. It is designed to gather meaningful data at critical junctures within the Asian intermodal network, then transfer, and present, the data in real time onto the Smart Autonomous Asset Network –SAAN. Fundamental to the technology demonstration is that participants in the showcase will directly collect data from their assets, on their own internal company servers, thus representing the ownership and protection of their own fleet information. Participants have the option to share asset data with other partners and stakeholders via the Trade Data Exchange Network – TDEN.

Showcase Vision
The project platform will help end users monitor the time, location, utilization, and security of cargo, dry containers, chassis, trucks, trailers and other assets. By mid-‐summer 2014 the showcase will be stood up and stakeholders will be able to track assets and cargo near and far via the CIMC – GT Showcase Trade Data Exchange Network web-‐portal.
The Asian Showcase will demonstrate the full functionality and benefits of Globe Tracker’s and the CIMC Intelligent Technology Company’s combined technologies and will engage other Intermodal partners for example terminal operators, shipping lines, and trucking businesses. Information will be available which will highlight the specific time, location, security, and status of assets traveling through Asia and indeed globally.
The technology showcase will use a variety of technologies while providing multiple solutions to intermodal shipping problems. Beyond the logistical issues of time and location of assets, the showcase will highlight methods of advanced technology, for example; battery power conservation and the strategic use of different wireless communications throughout the supply chain.

The deployed solutions are focused on providing asset; locations at points in time, locations and time when door seals are opened, locations and time when the specific cargo is loaded or unloaded, locations and time when sensor events occur. GT provides this data to the asset owner, the asset owner stores it, the asset owner shares it, the asset owner and those that the asset owner shares data with can use this valuable data with legacy or their own custom business intelligence applications.
The Globe Tracker Asian Show case will begin in the Port of Shenzhen, the fourth largest container port in the world processing over 22M TEU containers annually. Remarkably, the third largest container port is Hong Kong, the second largest is Singapore, and first is Shanghai. The number of containers and the equipment that utilize the ports in the region is incredible to say the least.
In the second half of 2014 CIMC Intelligent Technology Company will have a platform to illustrate to all industry participants an ability to track any intermodal asset anywhere in the world.

Globally speaking, thirty two million containers pass through four thousand ports on seven continents transporting more than ninety percent of the world’s products. This “system of systems” utilizes rail, ship, and truck, equipment and is one of the most complicated and widespread networks in our modern world. Fundamental to the success of this industry is the accurate and timely sharing of logistical data, which allows for the safe and secure transfer of containerized cargo.
The CIMC Globe Tracker showcase is designed to maximize both the quantity and quality of real time information utilizing Sub GHz RF, Wi Fi, GSM cellular, GPS, embedded software, sensor and internet technologies. It is important to state that the Asian technology
showcase certainly may continue far into the future as intermodal stakeholders adopt the technology and each company respectfully continues to benefit from the endeavor.
Deployed Technology
-‐ eSeal
One Hundred eSeals will be deployed within the showcase. Containers via a dedicated GT Comm Unit and associated eSeal device will provide tracking and monitoring of the container and the cargo in real time.
The Globe Tracker® eSeal works as a peripheral to the GT Communications Unit. The GT eSeal is designed to be inserted into the lock loops of a container or truck trailer door, have its locking cap attached and then continuously report its real-‐time closed status to its associated GT Communications Unit as it moves through its supply chain journey.
The product, based on GT’s Sub GHz Wireless Subsystem, is for container and truck trailer cargo security, a real-‐time door open / close sensor. However, this hardware can take on multiple personalities, such as covert cargo tracker, temporary container location tracker, etc. GT’s Sub GHz Wireless Subsystem will be offered to multiple partners at cost and with embedded
software, to bring GT Communications Unit peripherals to market quickly and cost effectively.
Key Specs include: Single or Multi-‐use, 70 day battery life, IP67 rated. Uses 433MHz to report
to a “master” GT Unit on container or fixed which then sends alerts via GT SAAN.
GT Communications Units will track a sundry of different intermodal assets providing critical logistical information to showcase stakeholders to include shipping lines, terminal operators, shippers, equipment manufacturers, Customs and Border Protection, and others.

GT Communications Unit
The Globe Tracker® Communications Unit is the industry’s most advanced real-‐time tracking, monitoring and communications device designed specifically for our industry. The strategic footprint, profile, battery lifespan, and embedded components provide the right combination of flexibility and sophistication.
The Globe Tracker Communication Unit is designed for permanent installation on the asset it will track and monitor, including cargo containers, truck trailers, railway cars, vessels, as well as
in terminals and yards. The battery operated Globe Tracker Communications Unit is completely autonomous, communicating with its local area network of sensors and with its owner’s server, wirelessly, from anywhere in the world. Each unit has a battery life of five years.
Smart Autonomous Asset Network – SAAN
The GT SAAN GUI presents the asset data in historical map and table formats and offers a number of time based analytics using just the asset data or with other business data: dwell time, sensor plots (journey temperature for example), door open / closed, load status (empty / partial / full), Estimated Arrival Time, for example. The SAAN GUI also provides the customer a secure Remote Administration Console capable of sending request and commands to reefer control units for example, Set Temperature, Read Temperature, Start Pre-‐Trip Inspection, etc. Globe Tracker’s SAAN (Smart Autonomous Asset Network) utilizes wireless technologies, hardware and software, as an integral components to the Asian Showcase.
Each GT Communications Units determines its global location and collects data for its private local area network of peripherals, sensors, door seals, reefer control units for example and sends it all to the asset owner’s private SAAN interface on the owner’s server.
The owner’s unique SAAN interface deposits the data in a private database on the owner’s server network, behind the owner’s firewall and security. The data is now available to the customer’s legacy software applications and to the Globe Tracker SAAN Graphical User Interface (GUI).

Trade Data Exchange Network – TDEN
The TDEN represents the industry’s first technology platform which safely and securely allows intermodal stakeholders to exchange specific information with other supply chain stakeholders.
Information generated from one companies GT hardware installed asset (for example a container with a GT Comm Unit and an associated eSeal) can tell another authorized company
specific data within the TDEN (for example that the container eSeal status has changed from “closed” to “open” at a specific time and location.
The SAAN directly writes data from the GT Comm Unit to the asset owner’s private database, while the TDEN allows asset owners to willingly share specific data from private database to web based platform. An example of this application would be a shipping line sharing selective
information with an inspections authorities.
