    CIEH Level 3 Award in Environmental Management This qualification has been designed to develop theknowledge and understanding of all staff working within

    an environmental management system (e.g. ISO14001).

    Who needs this qualification?Those with responsibilities within an environmentalmanagement system (such as ISO 14001)

    Why is this training important? All organisations have a legal responsibility for theimpact that they may have on the environment.

    This qualification focuses specifically on the practicalissues associated with implementing an environmentalmanagement system.

    2. Environmental policy

    Provide a copy of the environmental policy(demonstrating a commitment to continually improveenvironmental performance, prevent pollution andcomply with environmental legislation and otherrequirements).

    3. Environmental aspects register

    Provide a copy of the environmental aspects register(including direct and indirect aspects, description ofinputs, operations and outputs for normal, abnormal andemergency situations, and an assessment ofsignificance).

    4. Environmental objectives and targets andenvironmental improvement programme

    Provide a copy of example environmental objectives andtargets and a description of the environmentalimprovement programme.

    5. Implementation improving environmentalperformance

    Provide evidence of one management control you haveimplemented for example, details of a trainingprogramme, recycling initiative or new procedure thathas resulted in an improvement in the environmentalperformance of your organisation.

    6. Environmental audit

    Provide a copy of an environmental audit report clearly

    identifying the area audited, the auditor and date ofaudit, the evidence reviewed and findings. Where the
