Wildlife and Nepal

Nepal embarked upon modern era of Wildlife Conservation with the enactments of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (NPWC) Act in 2029(1973).

Established in 1980, Under Department of Forest. Established DNPWC for Wildlife conservation with

network National Parks -10 Wildlife Reserves -

3 Conservation Reserve -

6 Hunting Reserve and -

1 Buffer Zone in and around Parks/Reserves -

Wildlife area covers 34,185.62 sq.km.

(23.23% of total area of the country)

Nepal has 9 sites designated wetlands of

International importance (Ramsar Site)

covered 344.55 sq.km.

from its establishment. Established a separate pillar. Look After-
