From Father Jim’s Desk … As we know, sometimes the Lord works in mysterious

ways!

You may have heard at this past weekend’s Masses of the few adjustments that are taking place here with new clergy in Northern Indiana County and at our parish. Although Fr. Rodolfo was preparing to become a part of our parish team, a few important late adapta-tions to the clergy assignments were created to accommodate the parish necessities through-

out our diocese. One of these changes has led Fr. Rodolfo to assist in pastoral and liturgical responsibili-ties at Saint John the Baptist Parish in Perryopolis. At the same time, we here at Church of the Resurrec-tion have been blessed to receive Fr. Mathew Palkowski, OFM Cap to aid us in our sacramental and liturgi-cal ministry! Fr. Mathew brings with him many years of experience in preaching and a wide range of minis-try. I recently had the joy of spending some time with Fr. Mathew and am greatly looking forward to wel-coming his gifts and talents to our parish. Fr. Mathew will also be Chaplain to the Indiana Regional Medical Center and Chaplain to Pine Grove SCI. Fr. Rodolfo will be assisting us for a few weeks during this transi-tion at a couple of Masses until we prepare to welcome Fr. Mathew on July 25th.

Behind the Scene with the Buildings and Grounds Committee

As we all know, there is ALWAYS something to be done around the house, and that includes God’s house too! So, we are starting a new section of the bulletin to keep you up to date on the many ‘behind the scene’ projects that are being done at the churches. And again, THANK YOU for your support via prayers, your donations to the project funds and any time you can spend helping out! Buildings and Grounds Committee visited Ernest and Clymer and also Rossiter and Glen Campbell this past week. This coming week, Heilwood and Camerons Bottom will be reviewed. PLEASE, if you see something that needs at-tention anywhere, bring it to our attention – this is so important and we appreciate everyone’s input! Last week we listed a few of the many items that have been completed. Here is part of the TO BE DONE LIST for the various parish sites: Clymer - Clean out furnace room in church, power wash and stain deck, landing and stairs on the rectory side of the three stall garage, replace/remove water valve in church basement.* Ernest – clean out old school, remove piano from choir loft, repair ceiling in basement, light pole (work in progress), bell tower, gazebo (bid received for bell tower and gazebo repair and work to begin soon). Glen Campbell - replace broken windows in hall*, short in outside lights found and worked on. Heilwood - remove chimney at church*, replace shingles on storage shed, power wash and stain deck and storage shed. Camerons Bottom – remove flooring from rectory for future use in church, need to replace roof on church* and figure out how to preserve valuable Stations of the Cross* in the church in a cost effective manner. Rossiter – clean out furnace room, replace electric panel in church – in progress (house completed), change fluores-cent lights in church to LED, chair lift/vertical lift* for handicap access. The * indicates expert help needed in these areas. If you have any expertise or recommendations in these areas, please let Deacon Steve, Father Jim or any of the B&G members know. Thank you!

SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - JULY 19, 2020 PAGE 4

With the many adjustments we have seen this year to our parish way of life, our Annual festival will not be able to be held in the manner we have grown to know and love. Although we are unable to have our usual festival activities, we have come up with alternate plans to keep the “heart” of our festival going given the restrictions we must follow. A modified Parish Festival will take place on Sunday, August 9th. We hope this will allow for some Parish fun as a Parish family.

The popular 50/50 raffle tickets are available at the back of all the churches. We are asking that you purchase the tickets for $10. Your tickets will be entered into the Summer 50/50 raffle drawings. Beginning immediately, every time the 50/50 reaches $500 we will pull a ticket for a

new winner. By purchasing your 50/50 tickets early you will be eligible for all of the drawings! Additional tickets are available upon request or may be purchased at the office. All tickets must be turned into the Parish office by noon on Monday, August 31, to be eligible for the final drawing. Keep the tickets that say “keep this coupon”. Please write your name and telephone number on the back of the other tickets. Return those tickets along with your $10 to the office or in a separate envelope via the collection basket or mail them to the Parish Center, 349 Morris Street, Clymer PA 15728. Winners do not need to be present at the time of the drawing.

We will be holding the annual Basket Raffle under the tent that day as well. If you would like to do-nate a basket or any items to create a basket, please call Janet Receski (724-465-7566). You may also drop off your baskets at the church office. Please consider donating a basket or items to help make this Bas-ket Raffle a huge success! This is always a favored part of the festival, everyone enjoys seeing all the amazing baskets and getting a chance to win one.

Below is a volunteer sign up form. If you haven’t already spoken with someone about donating or volunteering, please use the form below. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS BASKET RAFFLE A SUCCESS, so please lend your time and/or your treasure.

Thank you in advance for your support of this very important parish event! We are looking forward to seeing you on Sunday, August 9th! Please spread the word!

PUBLIC MASS GUIDELINES

It is with such great joy that we started having public Masses on June 1, 2020. There are a few important guidelines we would like to highlight today as we have begun to return to Mass.

1. The Sunday Mass obligation remains lifted by Bishop Malesic for the foreseeable future to all the faithful in the Dio-cese of Greensburg. This means that no one is required to attend Masses. Diocesan streamed Masses will continue.

2. Masks will be required upon attendance of all Masses. Please bring your own mask with you. We will have a few extra new masks at every site just in case you don’t have one but please be mindful there are only a few.

3. Please respect social distancing. Seating will be 6 feet apart. Families of the same household may sit together. Ushers will help guide you to seating upon entry. 4. Hand sanitizer will be placed at all entry ways and we ask that you please sanitize upon entry and exit of our churches. 5. Please refrain from socializing in church before or after Mass to prevent close gatherings. 6. Singing will be kept to a minimum. 7. Offertory baskets will be placed in a stationary location and not passed around. 8. At the Sign of Peace, please simply give a wave or other non-touch gesture to those around you. 9. All are encouraged to receive communion in the hand. 10. There will be no greeting after Masses so that all may return to their vehicles without gathering.

As part of our recommencement plan, we, like other parishes, will see a few adjustments to our weekend and daily Mass schedule temporarily. I want to emphasize temporarily for these modifications are only in place to allow our staff to properly abide by all regulations we are required to follow. We will maintain a clean and sanitized environment in all our church sites!
