Looking for PREP Catechists There are many good reasons to be a Catechist. Here is just one—It’s fun! Spending time with energetic, enthusiastic young people gives you a renewed energy and vitality. Kids remind adults to live and laugh in the moment and get enthused about things like holy days and stories of saints. Not to mention there’s nothing like it when a kid ‘gets’ one of the tenets of the faith, like the Real Presence. To join this ministry, please contact Fr. Al at 215-745-1389 or email [email protected].

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 28, 2019
FOCUS: God is merciful to the faithful. Faithfulness to God is blessed with grace and mercy. Jesus interceded for us, as Abraham did for Sodom, and salvation is ours through his cross. Righteous living, which is adhering to God’s commands and car-ing for one another, is how we embrace our salvation. Let us pray for one another and for those who may not yet know the Lord—that salvation may be theirs as well. For God is merciful to the faithful.
LITURGY OF THE WORD: In the first reading, God assures Abraham that he would be merciful to the righteous. In his Letter to the Colossians, Paul writes that Christ took our sins to the cross, so by faith we are forgiven all our transgressions. In the Gospel, Je-sus teaches the disciples how to pray to the Father.
REFLECTION: Jesus promises God will give us the Spirit if we ask. So we ask, seek, and knock for that Spirit, believing that we are knocking at a door of a friend who is hospitable and has good bread waiting for us.
So we ask ourselves: • Where in my life do I need the Spirit’s life-giving
breath? • How will I share the gifts the Spirit has given me
with someone in my community?
Mission Appeal The weekend of August 3-4 we will welcome Fr. Pierre Claver Lunimbu, SVD to speak to us about the mis-sions. He is currently an Associate Pastor at St. Ann’s Church in Browns Mills, NJ. Father is from the Demo-cratic Republic of Congo and joined the Divine Word Missionary in 2003. The Divine Word Missionaries serve 80 countries helping to build chap-els, celebrate the sacraments, and spread the Word of God in remote mission communities. The second collection the weekend of August 3-4 will be taken up to help support their missionary work.
