A FEW WORDS FROM OUR PASTOR
I would like to begin by thanking everyone who came out last Saturday
afternoon for our annual “Welcome Back BBQ.” It was a great success and we’re
thrilled that so many people chose to join us. It was the biggest crowd since Father
Kevin and I arrived here almost 4 years ago. My thanks to Geri Anne and Patrick
O’Beirne, Sister Pat, and the members of Martha’s Ministry for all their hard work in
putting this BBQ together and ensuring that we all had a great time. There was so
much good food there we didn’t know what to choose!
Last Saturday we also hosted a “Children’s Ministry Appreciation Day” for
all the children of our parish who participate in one of our many ministries. It was an
opportunity for our parish to say “THANK YOU” to our young people who each
week share their time and talent as a minister here at Saint Saviour. My thanks to
Father Kevin, Sister Pat, and Geri Anne O’Beirne for putting the day together and
making sure our young people had a great afternoon. TODAY we are hosting our
Annual Children’s Ministry Fair downstairs in the Parish Hall. ALL our young
people are invited to come downstairs with their parents and check out the many
opportunities for Ministry we offer our young people here at Saint Saviour and to
sign-up for one of them. We are always in need of new ministers!
Registration for this year’s Children’s Faith formation Program is officially
closed, but if you still need to register your child you must make an appointment with
Sister Pat ASAP to get your child registered. It is imperative that all our young
people in grades 1-8 who do not attend a Catholic Academy be enrolled in our Faith
Formation Program. This is the policy of the Diocese of Brooklyn and it is
something Bishop DiMarzio reminded our Catechetical Leaders about at a recent
meeting. Anyone who has any questions about registration or our program are asked
to call Sister Pat at the Rectory.
On Sunday afternoon, October 28, our parish will be welcoming back the
Glenn Mohr Chorale, who will be sharing their performance of “DEEP RIVER” with
us. ALL the members of our parish family are invited to join us. Admission is
FREE and you are sure to enjoy the experience of hearing some of your favorite
spiritual hymns and learning the history behind some of these songs we have come to
know and love over the course of time. Please consider clearing your calendar and
joining us on October 28th. Finally, on Friday, November 2nd, we celebrate the Feast of All Souls, the
day on which we remember in a special way all those persons who have gone before
us marked with the sign of faith. It is an opportunity for us to remember in prayer all
of our beloved deceased. All Souls Day Envelopes are now available at ALL the
doors of the Church. Please take one, write the names of your loved ones who have
passed away on it, and return it in the Sunday collection or in the Rectory mail slot
BEFORE NOVEMBER 2nd. We will then place all those names on the tabernacle
and remember all those persons in prayer not just on November 2nd., but throughout
the entire month. Have a great week everyone.

PRAYERS FOR HEALING IN THE CHURCH
In light of the recent news from Pennsylvania, the
Diocese of Brooklyn and from many parts of the
world that has brought further scandal to the church,
our rosary group from the 8:30 a.m. Daily Mass will
pray the rosary each Tuesday after Mass for the
safety of young people and for healing in the church
and among the faithful. Please join them in offering
prayers for all who have been affected or suffer as a
result of this scandal.
