    Father Russ

    4th Sunday of advent/Blessed Christmas!

This weekend, the 4th Sunday of Advent, we prepare for the great feast of

Christmas by listening to the gospel story of the Annunciation. Like Mary, God

will “announce” his presence among us and ask of us at some time, some very

challenging news. Like Mary, we can become very troubled and confused by such

challenging news. However, like her, we too can trust and allow God’s presence

to work through us. Mary says in the end, “I am the handmaid of the Lord. May

it be done to me according to your word.” When we allow Jesus’ words and

actions to become part of our constitutions, we allow God’s presence to be born,

Incarnated in and through us. Whatever the circumstances we find ourselves, may

we continue to allow Jesus’ words and actions to take root in our lives in order to build his Kingdom

here and now. May you all have a very blessed Christmas and Christmas Season.

    Recent Parish Mailing

I want to thank you all for responding to the letter the St. Pius X Finance Board mailed out to you re-

garding our financial situation during this time of Pandemic. As I have mentioned before, considering St.

Pius has not taken in any weekend collections for the past 9 months or so, you, the St. Pius faithful,

have been very conscientious about contributing financially to your parish. I and the staff here appreci-

ate your generosity that has helped keep things financially afloat during these surreal times. May God

bless you for your generosity and goodness.

    Personal Thank You!

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your goodness and generosity towards me on the

occasion of my 61st year of life. I know I mention I would like to run away to Alaska from time to time

but I seriously doubt I would do such a thing and leave the good people of St. Pius. Thank you for

loving me and know that I am happy to be your pastor. Let us continue to pray for one another as we

Incarnate the presence of Christ here at St. Pius. Stay safe, stay well. God bless.

    Principal's Message

As our students prepared for their various roles in our

    Christmas

    Program last

    week, I tried

    to be present

    as often as

    possible to

    appreciate

    their hard

    work. It was

when I took pictures of Mrs. Anderson's second grade

class as they were dressed in their costumes for the

Nativity scene, that a simple truth about the birth of

Jesus struck me: Jesus wasn't born and placed on a

throne, or a pedestal, or even a soft bed as we might

think the King of kings would deserve. He was

humbly born, in a stable surrounded by animals and

angels, with a few fortunate human beings present to

witness the most important birth in human history.

Might we all someday have the grace to look upon

each human being with love and dignity, knowing

that we are all made in the image and likeness of God,

regardless of their position or circumstance in our

    society.

May God be with you always,

CHRISTMAS IS FOR HEALING Loving you, of course I am not at all interested in how much money you are spending on Christmas gifts this year but rather, in how much blood, sweat, and tears you are shedding to make Christ a vital part of your life for you and I will never be able to erase the fact that He came: to touch lives - to break bread to heal hurt - to forgive sins to wash feet - to calm seas to walk on water - to give us the Spirit and to care immensely. Yes, to care enough to be born in our Bethlehem to live in our land, and weep over our cities and die and rise again. So now it's Christmas and I am not sure what part of you is crippled or where you need to feel God's saving power but with everything in me I believe that Christmas is for healing And He came to heal. So if you can trust Jesus enough to walk out on the waters of getting involved, of washing feet and anointing people, of breaking bread and working miracles, I am almost sure His saving presence will touch those blind and crippled parts of your life and Christmas will come to you. More than anything else I want to give you Christmas this year It's a gift, an offer You can take it if you like but I can't really give it to you like a wrapped up package. It is deeper than that, It is warmer, brighter, holier. It is more personal. Christmas is more challenging than a wrapped up package. It is an offer It is a mystery It is birth It is hope. It is Christmas and God can never be born enough. This offer will not be cancelled in case of snow! Sr. Macrina Wiederkehr, OSB ~
