PASTORAL REFLECTIONS
Jesus continues the discourse on prayer by giving us two examples the Pharisee and the tax collector who have two very different styles of praying. One was arrogant and self congratulatory, the other prayed with humility. How do we come before God is an important topic for our reflection today? God knows no favorites; He loves and accepts all of us with all our sins and faults. He truly loves us and will care for us and meet all of our needs according to His providence, as St. Paul realized. The prayers of the lowly pierce the heavens the scriptures tell us. Let us together reflect on how we come to the Lord in prayer each day.
Have a blessed week.
Love, Fr. Paul

SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONS ON STEWARDSHIP “… for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the one
who humbles himself will be exalted.” – Luke 18: 14
Pride and ego is the root cause of most of our sins. Thinking your time is so valuable, your talent is better than anyone else and your money gives you status is another way of making those things “gods” before God. Remember all those gifts were God-given. Instead we should be humbled by God’s abundant generosity and our hearts should be filled with gratitude.

THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2016 Catholic voters will have to decide in the next weeks who they will vote for in the upcoming Presidential Election. Both candidates have serious flaws. Both candidates have shown a lack of good character in the past. The next president, however, will set policies; champion legislation and appoint three or more Supreme Court Judges. Clearly these decisions will have serious consequences for many years to come not only for our Country but for the Catholic Church in The United States. For whom should a Catholic vote then? Catholic voters should be guided by Catholic Truth. I can't think of any person who explained it better than a Catholic Priest from the Diocese of Phoenix Arizona who recently gave a strong homily on what Catholic voters should consider. His name is Very Rev. John Lankeit and his homily can be viewed in full at the following EWTN website https://www.facebook.com/ewtnonline/videos/10154077735832582/?pnref=story.unseen-section or https://www.romancatholicman.com/courage-arises-homily-virtually-no-priest-give/. Please take a moment to watch this important message. God bless you and keep you. Father Paul and Deacon Jim
