Parish Mission Statement St. John the Baptist Parish, located in historic Perryopolis, serves the people in the surrounding communities of Northeastern Fayette County. We are a community of caring, hardworking people with strong family ties. Our
Mission is to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ by practicing, sharing and evangelizing our faith on life’s journey, with our family of faith and local communities throughout all stages of life; leading all to Christ’s Kingdom. With the
guidance of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Saint John the Baptist may we strive to become evangelizers, leaders and stewards of Christ with a desire to grow in our physical and spiritual relationship with God.

Please remember in your prayers all whose who are suffering and in need of healing. May God bring peace and healing of mind and body to all those in need of His mercy. Also, remember in your prayers all those who have died and their grieving families. May God grant them the fullness of life and love in Heaven.
O God, Who did teach blessed St. Hedwig to renounce the pomp of this world, that, with her whole heart, she might follow the humble way of Thy cross: grant that, through her merits and example, we may learn to trample under foot the perishable delights of this world and by cleaving to our Lord’s cross overcome whatsoever may be opposed to us. Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.

Feast Day 10/16
Next weekend is World Mission Sunday, this year’s theme is “Mercy Changes the World!”. Pope Francis reminds us that we are responsible
in some way “for the care of Christian communities in need and for supporting the proclamation of the Gospel even to the ends of the Earth.”
Please remember this call to mission next weekend during our 2nd Collection to support the World Mission.

Rooted in Christ; His Heart, Our Home
Commitment Sunday is being held this weekend.
We encourage all parishioners to complete
and turn in your commitment cards to the church. The Commitment Card contains information
on how to plan your increased offertory gift to the church, and asks for
your commitment over the next year. If you have any
questions regarding this program or how to give electronically, please
contact the Parish Office.
Youth Ministry Last week we held a Youth Ministry meeting here at St. John.
We had about 25 young people in attendance, several of whom were from other parish and churches. As a parish we can be
very proud of this kind of successful gathering. People often say, “the youth are the future of the church”. Although this is true, I
somewhat disagree with that statement. The youth are the Church now, in the present. These young people are facing
challenges to their faith every day. And every day they stand up for justice and mercy because of what they believe.
Please help these young people in the following ways.. 1) Pray for our young people and our Youth Ministry.
2) Support our young people in their endeavors here at the parish.
3) Encourage any youth in your family to be a part of Youth ministry
Our Next meeting is October 23 at 6:00 Scott Martin, Director of Spiritual and Faith Formation
Altar Society members please notice that our meeting will be held this month on Thursday, October 20
th at 7PM
in the social center.
Members on the social committee are Chairperson Barbara Emricko, Connie Molchan, Vivian Scott, Linda Smeigh, Brenda Kmetz, and Sharon Thompson.
Why did God create me?
Why am I here? Where did I come from?
Where am I going?
Adult Formation
Life is full of questions…….God understands this, even in
Scripture the question is asked of us:
“What are you looking for?” (John 1:38)
The answer should be simple: Jesus Christ and our
relationship with Him. But what does that answer mean?
Two groups of Parish Family members have already taken a
journey of discovery, another group is currently traveling
this path…...we would like to invite you to join us on a
journey to Discover Christ.
Join us for a 7-week experience, January 8 - February 19,
2017 (Sundays) from 5pm to 7:30pm to explore the
questions: What is the meaning of life?
Why does Jesus matter? What does Jesus
want us to know? Why do I need a Savior?
Why is the Resurrection important for us?
Who is the Holy Spirit? Why do I need the
Church?
You can register by contacting the Parish
Office or email at
