Knights of Columbus Trinity Council 5467, “Coats for Kids” Program!

Trinity Council 5467 announces their 5th annual “Coats for Kids” program. The purpose of this

coats initiative is designed to keep children warm in harsh winter climates. In 2018 the council

distributed a record number (468) coats which were provided to individual families and eight-

een schools, parishes and service organizations in the area. Our goal this year is to exceed 468

coats.! To achieve this objective, the council will work to raise $9,400. Please contact Bob Ellis

(2033930787) if you have any questions or if you know of families with children who could

benefit from receiving a new winter coat. The coats will be distributed between October 7December 15.! Each box of

(12) coats cost $250. If you would like to make a donation of any amount to help purchase these coats, please mail

your check, payable to the Trinity Council 5467, to Bob Ellis, 129 Peck Hill Road, Woodbridge, CT 06525 by Octo-

ber 15 to assist us with our planning. In 2018, 1,943 local councils distributed 117,264 coats. Since the program in-

ception’s in 2009, 573,905 coats have been distributed in the United States and Canada, including military bases, in

Native American communities, in innercity neighborhoods and through partnerships with local police departments.!

Catholic Church Annulments

Many Catholics have asked the following questions about the Church’s position on divorce, annulments, and mar-riage: ! Can a divorced person receive Communion? ! Can a divorced person marry in the Catholic Church? ! Why might a non-Catholic consider or need an annulment ! Does a divorced person need an annulment when the marriage was performed only by a Justice of the Peace. Often these questions and others have been met with misleading, misguided and sometimes wrong responses. Per-haps you, a family member or a friend needs sound, clear information.

Fr. Juan Diego Brunetta, former Judicial Vicar and now full-time Judge in the Metropolitan Tribunal will present a workshop and answer these questions.

OCTOBER:

MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY

The Catholic Church designates October as the Month of the Holy Rosary. During this month the faithful venerate the Blessed Virgin Mary especial-ly under her title of Our Lady of the Rosary, and make special effort to honor the Holy Rosary with group recitations and rosary processions. St. Dominic de Guzman, the founder of the Order of Preachers, is the saint to whom Our Lady fa-mously appeared and gave the prayers of the Holy Rosary to assist him as a spiritual weapon in com-bating heresy and leading souls back to the one, true Catholic faith.

“The power of the rosary is beyond description.”

- Venerable Fulton Sheen

“I could conquer the world if I had an army to

pray the rosary.” - Blessed Pope Pius IX
