Good Things to Know Why Water?

It's about demonstrating God's love, announcing his kingdom, seeing Jesus in the least of our brothers and sisters, offering a cup of water in Jesus' name and proclaiming his gospel, the living water.

Water & Women. Many women spend 20 hours per week collecting water, some walking 7 miles a day, often for contaminated water. Too often the walk is not safe for them physically. It is women and the children they raise who suffer most without water, and who benefit most from access to it.

Water & Health Water-related diseases cause 2.2 million deaths a year; every day, diarrhea takes the lives of 2,000 children in Africa—more than any other single cause of death. Safe water, a toilet, and clean hands could prevent 90% of these deaths.

Water & Education Globally, water-related diseases steal 443 million school days a year. Illness causes absenteeism and early drop-out. Simple solutions can keep kids in school.

Water & the Gospel. A source of safe drinking water is the beginning of a new life for a community, and for many, a new life in Christ. Safe water is the beginning of education for children, a safer life for women and a stronger economy and better health for everyone. But all of that, too, is just the beginning. At its best, water is the beginning of the Body of Christ moving into the neighborhood.

Surely, we at FPC need to find it in our hearts to support another water well.

Here's how you can help:

1. Consider volunteering for the Mission Team: (FPC contacts are Tom Young and Ron Bailey) We need 8 drillers and 4 hygiene team members, or:

2. Donate directly to the church office (make your checks to FPC with the memo line “Living Water International”), or,

3. Confirm your financial commitment by donating through a special offering on Sunday, August 30, 2015.

Our goal is to sponsor a new water well financially in addition to sending a Mission Team. The timing for the Mission trip will depend on how long it takes to accumulate the needed funds. Please help us make sure that it's not too long.
