CHUCK CLOSE AMERICAN ARTIST WHO PERSERVERED CHUCK CLOSE - Born in Washington State on July 5, His Father died when Chuck was just 11 years old. -He also saw his first Jackson Pollock Painting in person at the Seattle Art Museum when he was 11 and was outraged by the work, but within a few days found that he was dripping paint on canvases as well. -Diagnosed as learning disabled as a kid. -Also diagnosed with Prosopagnosia (Face Blindness). -Wanted to be a trash collector when he grew up. Photorealism -is a genre of art that encompasses painting, drawing and other graphic mediums, in which an artist studies a photograph and then attempts to reproduce the image as realistically as possible in another medium. CHUCK CLOSE THE EVENT -On December 7 th, 1988 Chuck suffered a collapse of his spinal artery. This left him almost completely paralyzed. - He has returned to painting, but has had to alter his style and techniques.
