Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Marilyn Monroe . . . These gorgeous women wore gorgeous dresses that still make us swoon today. Famous Frocks provides everything you need to make these classic dresses on your own—Audrey’s Little Black Dress, Marilyn’s poster-classic white halter, Farrah’s sexy wrap dress, and more. Vintage photos of the original look along-side gorgeous color illustrations of the fi nished frocks offer inspiration, while how-to illustrations break down each step so sewers of all skill levels can follow along. Featuring full-size sewing patterns and detailed instructions for ten dresses inspired by these icons and updated to be stylish for today—plus ten variants for a full twenty looks—this entirely original sewing book is a treat for lovers of vintage style.

Sara Alm has been sewing since her leg was long enough to reach the foot pedal of her grandmother’s Singer Featherweight. Patternmaker and teacher by trade, she lives with her family in San Francisco, Cali-fornia, where she teaches at Apparel Arts.

Hannah McDevitt has been affi liated with Stitch Lounge, Turning Heads, and Craft Haven Collective. In her spare time she can be found sewing, knitting, and experimenting in the kitchen. She lives in Portland, Oregon.

DAYS WITH MY FATHERPH I L L I P TOLEDANO

WITH

MY

FATH

ER

PHILLIP

TOLE

DA

NO

Sometimes, when we’re talking, my dad will stop,

and sigh, and close his eyes.

It’s then that I know that he knows.

About my mum.

About everything.

Days With My Father is a son’s photo journal of his

aging father’s last years. Following the death of his

mother, photographer Phillip Toledano was shocked

to learn of the extent of his father’s severe memory

loss. He started a blog on which he posted photo-

graphs and accompanying reflections on his father’s

changing state.

Through sometimes sad, often funny, and always

loving observations, we follow Toledano as he learns

to reconcile the elderly man living in a twilight of

half memories that his father has become, with the

ambitious and handsome young man he occasionally

still sees glimpses of. Days With My Father is an

honest and moving reflection about coming to terms

with an aging parent.

Phillip Toledano believes that a photograph

should be like an unfinished sentence.

Born in 1968 in London, he lives and works

in New York City, where after a decade as

an advertising art director, he returned to

his true passion, photography, combining

editorial and advertising work with

personal projects. Since completing Days

With My Father, Toledano has become a

father himself, and is now recording his

baby daughter’s development.
