Christmas Lunch in the Community Centre

Home Alone at Christmas

On Christmas Eve a group of us met at the Garrad Room to lay tables, prepare vege-tables and decorate the room. Within a couple of hours all was ready for the next days’ celebrations.

After church on Christmas morning the band of helpers arrived at the Garrad Room. Parsnips were put in the ovens, plates were warmed and guests requiring lifts were collected.

On arrival champagne was available.

We catered for thirty two but unfortunately due to illness two people couldn’t come so meals were delivered.

Twenty eight of us sat down to a very enjoyable meal.

We listened to Her Majesty’s speech at 3pm and had a competition to guess what colour she would be wearing.

Five people had the right answer, so there was no prize. We had a quiz about sweets ------guess who won the prize!!!

Ele and Jonathan then played the flute and guitar whilst we all sang our favourite Carols.

We thank Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury’s who kindly gave us vouchers to be spent in their stores. Also thanks go to

Every one that donated goods and cash and also Willsher Butchers at Marks Tey who kindly charged us only half price

for our turkey and bacon. We must also give big thanks to Kevin who did all the wash-ing up for us.

A Good Time Was Had By All.
