GOVERNOR’S REPORT ~ Mark Hutton

FROM THE DESK OF ADMINISTRATOR, BOB LAUX

December already! The Holidays are lots of fun, but very busy. We have a lot to look forward to, but, first a quick recap of November.

November started with Honors Night. Congratulations to Ann Schifano, International Co-worker and Linda Wilkinson, Novice Co-worker, Bob Meister, Rookie of the Year, and Kevin Hyland, our new Fellow. Awards were presented to them. Kevin and I also received the 25 Club Placket awarded. Thank you very much.

We had a good breakfast meeting at the Churchville Lodge and returned to our Family Center for the Chili Cook Off. We had some GREAT chili on November 10th. On the 13th, we had a Moose Le-gion Enrollment Ceremony where we enrolled 3 new Moose Legionnaires from our Lodge. Welcome New Moose Legion Members Dave Wallace, Matt Bernhardt, and Dave Fountain.

The College of Regents dinner and ceremony was great. We had 3 Past Deputy Grand Regents present at our Family Center and received many compliments on how we have a great relationship between our men and women. We know how to have fun and still get what needs to be done!

Looking forward to our Adult Christmas Party on the 14th, and Breakfast with Santa on the 22nd with the Holiday Bake sale to follow. We always have a great New Year’s Eve party!

See you at the Family Center! Mark Hutton

As we button up the year and approach the Holiday Season, please take a moment to stop at the Family Center and meet, and share, with our members some Holiday cheer. There are a lot of pro-grams going on this December. Take a moment to review the enclosed calendar and take in an event or two. Be sure to bring the kids and grandkids to the Family Center to have Breakfast with Santa, plus a lot of extras.

There are a few storage spots left in the Pavilion area for Winter storage. Give us a call to make arrangements for a spot. Anyone interested in a Tommy Moose as a gift for a small child, we have them available for $12.00, and the proceeds go to Mooseheart Children’s Charities.

Take a moment to look at your dues card and be sure that it is current. You can drop off your dues at the Family Center, and I will take care of it for you, if you prefer. Also, don’t forget to spon-sor a new or former member into our great Fraternity. If you sponsor two, you get your next dues payment paid for you!

Our appreciation goes out to ALL our volunteers who have spent numerous hours working at the Family Center to keep it clean and nice for our members. We are always looking for new volunteers to work on various tasks, projects, events, etc. Please ask what you can do to help out.

A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Joe Naber and his scare crew of the Haunted House. Every year he goes above and beyond. This year Joe Naber donated over $4,000.00 from the proceeds of his event. Wow, very generous donation for use in our Moose donations! Thank you!

Have a pleasant Holiday with your family and friends. Make it safe and pleasurable. My wife, Sharon, and I would like to extend best wishes to all our Moose families for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Please take a moment to say a prayer for all the families who have had tragedies during 2013 and our troops who are serving our great Country. God Bless the children at Moose-heart, and our senior residents at Moosehaven. God bless the USA.

At this time of year, we are blessed with our families and good friends to celebrate with. This is also the time of year when we should

open our hearts to those who are not as fortu-nate as many of us to have family and good

friends. Open your hearts to people in need at this time of year. Perhaps you have a neighbor who spends the holidays alone, invite them to join you. Send holiday baked goods to those

less fortunate that cannot afford to make these items. Also, remember, it could just take a

From our Senior Regent ~ Susan Hyland

Hello co-workers. Happy Holidays to everyone. I trust everyone had a bountiful Thanksgiving. As Moose members, we have so much to be thankful for.

Our November month was quite busy with super things going on at our Family Center. We began the month with our Honor’s Dinner on November 2. Congratulations to our two WOTM honoree’s Ann Schifano, Linda Wilkinson, and all others who were honored this day. We are proud of you. The dinner was well attended and the food was awesome. Pat Ladd, your homemade chutney sauce was a real treat, and complimented the ham slices, accompanied with the wonderful rue you mixed in with the scalloped potatoes. Everything was superb. You are quite the chef. Thank you, Pat Ladd, for all you do for the Moose. We could not have done it without you. A big thank you goes out to Cody for your excellent music played at both of our WOTM events held in the month of November.

Next there was the Chili Cook Off. Thank you chairman, Carol Moore. Carol’s Chili Cook Off was fantastic! Thank you to all who bought their bowls of chili. All the chili got sold. What a great thing. Thank you to the 9 Moose contest-ants who brought in their chili to be judged. We could not have done this without you. A huge thank you goes out to our judges, Butch Bloom, Matt Mazzaferro, Mike Mattison, Larry Mathis, and Justin Moore. You did a superb job on deciding the winners. 1st place winner was Shirley Every, 2nd place winner was Jim Burkhardt, and 3rd place winner was Russ Whalley. Congratulations. It was a marvelous time had by all. I would like to also congratulate the two winners of the chili baskets which Carol creatively put together to sell at her event. Thank you to Nancy Clark for the delicious pineap-ple upside down cake that was sold as our dessert this day. It topped off the bowls of chili. Thank you to all that brought extra sides to compliment the chili event too.

Next was our College of Regents, Red Tassel and Red Stole afternoon. It was well attended. Thank you chairman, Jan Cripps, for all you did to plan the dinner for this event. Also, Pat Ladd and Pat Dano for the awesome job you did at the dinner to make this a memorable time for everyone. Thank you once again, Lenny, for your continued kitchen sup-port. We had several collegians and their families represented at the ceremonies. I would like to again take this oppor-tunity to congratulate those who were honored in the ceremonies, the honorees families and honored guests for all being contributors in making this a very special occasion. We enjoyed having International College of Regents Board member, Carol Bowker, as our guest speaker. Carol, from all of us at Chapter 1998, we wish to acknowledge that your efforts and energies are a great example and demonstrate the importance of these honors and the commitment these honors repre-sent to those who were honored on Saturday at the ceremonies. We extend a warm thank you to all the WOTM and LOOM, and their families who attended as well. Another thank you goes out to our two past NY State Deputy Grand Regents, Sharon Zern and Carolyn Turner for attending our three ceremonies. We also know that several co-workers from other Chapters traveled a distance to attend this ceremonious day at our Moose Family Center. It was wonderful to see everyone decked out in their regalia. It added to this ceremonious event. Thank you for coming. Thank you eve-ryone who participated in the ceremony. You helped in making it run smoothly. Thank you Pat Hodge for directing and addressing all three ceremonies for our honorees. We thank you and you made us all look proud. A thank you goes out to our investing officer and new NY State Deputy Grand Regent, Debbie Kelsey, for bestowing each honoree with their respected regalia. It made it more special for all of us on this ceremonious day. You are awesome ladies!

Thank you one and all who purchased our new WOTM cookbooks downstairs after the ceremonies, and they are still on sale as we speak. So, do not pass up the chance to purchase one for the holidays.

We have a lot of things coming up in the month of December, so look at your calendar for upcoming events. We will be putting up the mitten and Christmas tree after the Thanksgiving holiday. Any donations of mittens you have are wel-come, and they will be donated to the children in our community.

The Children’s Breakfast with Santa will be on December 22, so come one, come all. Santa arrives at 11am with gifts for all the children.

Our activity meeting will be held this month on December 5, 2013 at 7pm. Our Community Service Committee chair-man, Linda Eberlin, will be having us make some bracelets after the meeting. Please come and join in the fun.

We have some great events being put on by our committee chairman coming up in 2014 months ahead. Read your Newsletters, so you can keep these events in mind. Thank you for your continued support and all you do for us at the Moose Family Center. Keep up the good work all co-workers of the Moose.

From your Senior Regent, and Board Members, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, and a safe and Happy 2014 New Year. Susan Hyland, Senior Regent
