Office Hours: Monday ~ Thursday ~ 8:00 a.m. ~ 4:30 p.m. (Closed Friday)

Office Phone: 785-448-3452 ~ Website: www.fccgarnett.org Did you know there are 4 ways a person can load dishes into a dishwasher?

1.The way he's been trained by his mother.

2.The way his wife likes it done.

3.The way he does it at his mother-in-law's house.

4.The way he does it when no one's looking.

With this many options you could see how the simplest things can cause a real rift in a

relationship. I remember as a newlywed man how I made a comment about how my wife’s

snickerdoodles were good but grandmas were better. Have you ever made that mistake? This

started an interesting phenomenon. She made me snickerdoodles all the time until I couldn’t stand

snickerdoodles. Why? Because she was waiting for me to concede my grandmas cookies were

better. And to be honest my wife’s cookies are much better than grandmas these days!

There are many preferences we have in life. A better way to live may be to put our own

preferences aside.

“And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and

take up his cross daily and follow Me." Luke 9:23

There are a hundred ways to make a snickerdoodle. There are also many ways to do most of the

jobs we find around the church. It is a wise person who can set aside “their own ways” to allow

others to do it their way for the cause of Christ!

Blessings, Chris

A Mission Moment

Mission Haiti Team returned from a very

successful week in Haiti. Our luggage made it through

without a hitch and Gayle Durham was waiting for us at

the airport. The weather was hot, the patients many,

and we could feel the presence of God with us as we

worked.

We ended up with four days of clinic and saw

1083 patients in those four days. We did run out of

some medications, but that is expected when seeing that many people. There was enough of the

most critical medications such as antibiotics, antihistamines, and stomach medications.

We had taken reading glasses with us and the smiles were many and one lady was happy as

she could now sew so much easier. Our blanket count was 139 blankets and a large bag of little

stocking caps for the babies and small children in the mountains. Vegetable seeds and 50# of bean

seed were taken and distributed to the local gardeners and farmers.

First Christian Church supports other missions besides Mission Haiti and in the next few weeks

we will be looking at those missions. Thank you again for your prayers, donated goods and financial

support for our Mission Haiti Team. We look forward to sharing our trip with you in the coming weeks

with slide presentations and telling you about our trip.

Behind the scenes: Mike Zentner & Dan Dulin helped Cheryl Varvel last week covering the forms and hanging the new curtains in the Family Life Center. They look amazing. Thank you both for helping! By looking at the last picture…I believe Cheryl is either taking a nap or finishing the hems. I will go with the later…Great job Cheryl!

Thanks, so much Larry & Cheryl Varvel! The new curtains look great! We are so happy with the look of the window treatments and large curtains in the new building! FCC covered the cost of materials for the new curtains and the Varvels donated the time and the materials for the windows. We love you guys and are so thankful for using your gifts to bless our church family!
