1st stage: Tarifa to CórdobaStop #1: Jimena de la FronteraSmall village in the heart of AndaluciaTake a break before the next good ride to Ronda

This little village has 9.000 habitants. Walk around the streets and do a little hiking going up to the Castle. The caste is now in ruins, but it was declared amonument of cultural interest in 1931. Ti is themain building in the city. The fortress was probablybuilt on the ruins of the ancient city of Oba and it was a good defense building especially in times of Muslim invasion.

1st stage: Tarifa to CórdobaStop #3: CórdobaSpend 1 day in CórdobaMorning ...

1. Roman bridge. The bridge is newly renovated, with a reform that has tried to look back as close as possible to the original. This architectural marvel is named after the period of Roman rule in Córdoba. The bridge passes over the Guadalquivir river. Halfway through the bridge rises the image of San Rafael, in its feet you’ll see flowers and candles, and many Cordobeses remove their hats or say a short prayer while passing in front of the statue. At the southern end of the Roman bridge stands the Torre de la Calahorra, while at the opposite end, the visitor finds Gate Bridge, also called the Arc de Triomphe, which leads to the Cathedral Quarter. Here is our next stop.

2. MOSQUE. Everything we say about this monument will fall short. It is one of the gems of Andalusia, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and the second largest mosque for centuries only after the Mecca. Strolling through the facilities is like returning to the past, to the time of the Caliphs. Visit the patio of orange trees, admiring the red and white arches... a good option is to apply for a guide to take through the temple explaining its fascinating history.

Without realizing it we have done lunchtime, so what better go to one of the restaurants to try the local meals. Another hint: next to the Mosque is the Bar Santos, which is said to serve the best omelette in town. Try Gazpacho or Salmorejo as starter and Rabo de toro as the main plate.omelette in town. Try Gazpacho or Salmorejo as starter and Rabo de toro as the main plate.

Afternoon ...

3. Jewry. Around the mosque extends the popular neighborhood of Cordoba's Jewish Quarter, a maze of narrow streets, corners and squares. Perhaps the most picturesque of the neighborhood is the Calleja de las flores (Small street with flowers), a narrow alley filled with geraniums and ending in a small square where tourists throng to take pictures full of charm, from there you’ll see the silhouette Cathedral tower. Walk the streets and be overcome by the silence of centuries, discovering places like Maimónides, with the Bullfighting Museum and the Zoco Municipal a place with workshops and artisans who will make their products in front of you. A few meters away, in Jews Street, you’ll find the Synagogue. Keep going down this road, to the Puerta de Almodóvar formerly access to the Jewish Quarter.

4. Plaza de la corredera. Next to the Town Hall we find this square. It is the only square plaza of Andalucía . Today is one of the favorite recreational areas of Cordoba, but was once the scene of executions and bullfights. It is the perfect place to take a beer and have a tapa Cordoba.

5. Squares and alleys. One of the best things we can do on our trip to the city of the caliphs is let go and get lost in its narrow streets, small squares full of charm. We can not miss the Plaza del Potro. Miguel de Cervantes stayed during his stay in the city in one of its inns.

TOLEDO

In the morning ...

Strolling through Toledo is an excellent idea, the old town is pedestrian .Visit the San Marcos Cultural Center (Centro de Interpretación de Toledo, C / Trinidad 7), which regularly hosts exhibitions related to the city. A tip: Admission is charged in most places of interest, but on Wednesday many of them are free. Another option would be to buy the "City Pass”, just for 8 euros you will get into most of the main attractions.

But before you start paying tickets, enjoy Toledo’s streets and corners. Go to the area of el

Real de Santo Domingo, and the Convents of Santa Clara and Capuchin. On the streets of Toledo is also possible to find something we normally associate with Andalusia, but also typical of this city: the courtyards. typical of this city: the courtyards.

In the upper part of the city you’ll find the Alcázar, symbol of the city. It is a fortified building built directly on the rock, which was a Roman palace in the third century and was later renovated and used by various kings. However, during the Civil War the Palace was destroyed by the Republican troops, and the building that we see today is a reconstruction of the original. Currently, in the Alcazar we find the Army Museum and the Library of Castilla-La Mancha.

If we continue our journey through the streets of Toledo, we’ll see what is probably the second most famous building in the city: the Cathedral of Santa Maria, which is considered the top of the Spanish Gothic style.

After visiting the Cathedral, it will be a good time to relax and enjoy an appetizer. In the

narrow streets of Toledo you will find many bars and taverns serving typical wines of

Castilla-La Mancha, vermouth on tap and delicious tapas.

TOLEDO

In the afternoon ...

If there is a character who is always identified with this city is the famous painter Domenikos Theotokópulos, better known as El Greco. Born in Crete and educated in Italy, came to Toledo in the sixteenth century and its magnificent paintings are now part of the universal pictorial imagery.

There is no doubt that El Greco's paintings show a unique and distinctive style, with strong contrasts of light and shadow. In some cases, parts of his paintings have been considered even precursor of abstract art and impressionist.

One of his most famous works can be seen at the Church of Santo Tomé, at the entrance. We refer to The Burial of Count Orgaz.

The presence of Jewish culture in Toledo is one of its most interesting features. The Jewish The presence of Jewish culture in Toledo is one of its most interesting features. The Jewish

Quarter is adjacent to the Church of Santo Tomé.

In its streets, we can find the Museum of El Greco and in front of it, the Tránsito Synagogue.

Another feature is synagogue Santa Maria la Blanca.

And the third point of interest related to Jewish culture and located in the Jewish suburb of

Toledo is certainly the Sephardic Museum. It is located next to the Synagogue of Tránsito,

and is the only museum dedicated to Jewish culture in our country.

To the end of your evening tour, nothing better than a good overview of the city from a high

point. It is said the best views of Toledo are obtained from the viewpoint of the Towers of

the Church of San Ildefonso, also known as the Jesuits (Plaza Father Juan de Mariana, 1).

You’ll have to pay entry (with the City Pass was included in the tour) in winter it closes at

5.45 pm, while in summer you can reach the Mirador until 7pm.

Take a walk back through the old town enjoying tapas in the evening, before having dinner

at any of the local restaurants, or go to Tasca Tasca and specialty testing rations.

And if you do not mind moving outside the city walls, a recommendation: the beautiful

terrace of the Café-Bar Hotel Cigarral de Caravantes, with magnificent views over the city.
