Christian Death es una banda Rock Gtico y Deathrockoriginaria de Los Angeles formado en 1979 y al que sele considera el precursor de este estilo. El grupo estabaliderado y fundado por Rozz Williams y el guitarrista Jaycon James McGearty en el bajo y George Belanger en labatera, presentndose en vivo en varias ocasiones hasta1981 cuando se integr el guitarrista Rikk Agnew.Christian Death fueron los pioneros del deathrock bajoinuencias de artistas como Alice Cooper e Iggy Pop (Dehecho, Rozz Williams, su lder, dijo que en un inicio lagente pensaba que su banda era comoAlice Cooper y TheCramps.Uno de los mayores reconocimientos del grupo lleg consu lbum Only Theatre of Pain en 1982, que fue decisivopara el nacimiento del estilo deathrock dentro y fuera deEstados Unidos.Despus de algunos grandes cambios en su alineacin, amediados de los aos 90, llegaron a conuir dos bandascon el nombre de Christian Death; una lidereada por Va-lor Kand, que haba sido guitarrista con Rozz Williamsluego de la partida de los integrantes anteriores alrededorde 1985, y quien continu con la banda independiente-mente hasta la fecha, por otro lado Christian Death conRozz Williams se reform en repetidas ocasiones con di-versas alineaciones. Rozz Williams se suicid en abril de1998. Christian Death se haba dividido ya para aquel en-tonces.En 2007 algunos de los miembros originales de la primeraetapa deChristian Death se reunieron bajo el nombre deChristian Death 1334.
