2nd Sunday of Lent —March 8, 2020From the bright cloud the Father’s voice is heard: This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to him.
Stewardship Bulletin Bit“Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your
father’s house to a land that I will show you.” —Genesis 12:1
God calls all of us to leave behind our old ways and to follow Him, placing our complete trust in Him. Some of the old ways that we may have to struggle to leave behind might be materialism, selfishness, and greed. Yet God promises to show us a new land and a better way to live. Remember what St Teresa of Calcutta said: “God does not call us to be successful, God calls us to be faithful.”

INTERDENOMINATIONAL wORshIP sERvICEsChrist the Redeemer is hosting the 2020 Lent worship services. The next is Thursday, March 12 at noon. The worship will be led by Joell Haugan (Community Baptist Church), with a guest speaker from the Salvation Army. Lunch will be prepared by St Stephen’s Anglican. Let’s have a good turnout— for worship, reflection, fellowship, and to welcome our Christian brothers and sisters.
sTATIONs OF ThE CROssOnce again, we will pray the Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings during Lent starting at 7:00 pm. Each week a different ministry will host; on March 13 it is the social Justice team, who will offer a PowerPoint presentation by Development & Peace, inviting us to reflect on the crisis in the Amazon in the light of Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection.
Everyone is invited to attend Mass at 5pm on March 25 to celebrate Msgr Rey’s 40th Anniversary of Priestly Ordination. However, a free ticket is required by all for admittance to the banquet which follows. All those tickets are currently spoken for, but if you place your name on a waiting list, you will be notified if and when a ticket becomes available.
INvITATION TO ALL PARIshIONERs
Join the Youth Band! We want to keep the Youth Band going. You don’t have to be young to join, just youthful! Use your talents to help others connect with God—and meet new people. We practice just 1 or 2 times a month, usually before 10 am Mass. Whatever your individual talent, you will be welcome! For young adults, this experience will count towards your volunteer hours and is great to report on resumes and scholarship applications. March 8—International women’s DayYesica Patiachi Tayori of Peru’s Harakbut Indigenous community was invited to the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon Region in October 2019. She said, “We, the Indigenous peoples, have been, are and will always be the guardians of the
forest. But caring for our common home is everyone’s responsibility, not just that of Indigenous peoples.” Development and Peace’s partner, the Amazonian Centre for Anthropology and Practical Application (CAAAP), helps the Indigenous peoples of the Amazon ensure that their rights and territories are respected.
Let us salute the courage of women like Yesica, who bravely lead the defence of the land, water and people.
March 22: Save the date! KNIGhTs OF COLUMBUsSwift Current Knights of Columbus will be hosting a newly developed First, Second & Third Degree exemplification on sun, March 22, 2020 at 11:30 am.
