Stewardship Bulletin Bit“Each day the people are to go out and gather

their daily portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they follow my instructions or not.”

—Exodus 16:4

When the Israelites gathered more than their daily portion of manna, the surplus became wormy and rotten. In the same way today, self-reliance, pride and ego leads to hoarding and excessive surplus of goods and money. Living a stewardship lifestyle helps us discern our “wants” from our “needs”. Living a grateful and generous lifestyle reminds us that God will provide all that we need and that we have plenty to share.

Readings for Sunday, August 8th1st Reading: 1 Kings 19:4-82nd Reading: Ephesians 4:30 - 5:2Gospel Reading: John 6:41-51

NOTE: The faithful continue to be dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days

of Obligation until September 1, 2021.

A reminder that there is NO Holy Hour on Thursdays or First F riday Adoration

during the summer months.

Fr Chris recently finished his 1st assignment as a new priest at Holy Family Parish in Regina. Born and raised in Regina, his journey to priesthood began with Religious Studies at Campion College, then St Paul University in Ottawa. His process of discernment took him to the USA and religious formation with the Conventual Franciscans. Feeling the call to be a diocesan priest, he was accepted by Archbishop Daniel Bohan, earning a Master of Divinity degree in April 2020 from St Joseph Seminary in Edmonton. For a more detailed bio, please visit our website. Welcome, Fr Chris!

1. The faithful continue to be dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation until September 1, 2021.2. Mask wearing is optional based on your own risk assessment and comfort level. People with any symptoms are encouraged to wear a mask at Mass.3. Contact tracing is not required and therefore booking a spot for Mass will no longer be necessary.4. We will continue to use the hand sanitizers in the entrance and in the center aisle inside the Church.5. We will restore the Holy Water fonts at a later date.6. The Sign of Peace (shaking hands, a bow or gesture) may resume at the comfort level of each person. Do not shake hands if you have cold or flu symptoms.7. The collection basket will remain on the table inside the Church.8. We will resume having ministry volunteers serving at Mass—while maintaining sanitizing and safety protocols.9. Individuals distributing communion must wear a mask and hand sanitize before & after distributing communion. Reception of communion in the hand is to be the norm. At this time, the Blood of Christ will not be provided.

AN APPEAL FOR SURVIVORS & THEIR COMMUNITIES

In an effort to engage more deeply in our ongoing commitment and response to the Truth and Reconciliation process, the Catholic Bishops of SK announce a province-wide appeal to support residential school survivors and their communities. A goal and timeline will be in place by September. Please visit archregina.sk.ca. The Bishops’ letter is front and centre, or you may scroll down to find “Latest News” on the left. There Archbishop Don Bolen speaks on how we are responding as Catholics. There are also options for giving under the “Donate Now” tab at the top.“It is for all of us to rise to the occasion and be instruments of healing and reconciliation, moving forward in humility, truth and justice.” —Catholic Bishops of Saskatchewan

SOCIAL JUSTICE RECOMMENDATIONSCheck out new material relating to Truth and Reconcilia-tion under the SOCIAL JUSTICE tab on our website. There are reading and listening recommendations. For example, visit cbc.ca/books/48-books and you will find a list of books by Indigenous writers helping us understand residential schools. There are also excellent podcasts from cbc.ca, the CBC Listen app—or wherever you get your podcasts.
