From the Pastor’s Desk

Let us continue to pray for individuals, families, and communities recently affected by natural disasters. May the Lord extend to them his mercy, strength, and healing. And may Mary, our Heavenly Mother, watch over them with love and compassion. Looking ahead on the liturgical calendar, the Feast of the Archangels is this Friday, September 29. There are three archangels named in the Bible: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Saint Michael combats and overcomes the devil in the Book of Revelation. In the Gospel of Luke, Saint Gabriel announces to Mary that she will be the Mother of God. Saint Raphael is the disguised, miracle-working companion of Tobias in the Book of Tobit. These are some of the most powerful intercessors we have in heaven, and it would be a good idea to converse with them on a regular basis! In addition to our guardian angels, the archangels are quick to come to our assistance whenever we call upon them. Those who work in our justice ministry with the BREAD organization should know that there will be a house meeting next Saturday, September 30, in the church basement at 10:30 a.m. This meeting will be in English, but there will be others held in parishioners’ homes in Spanish. The purpose of a house meetings is to listen to the concerns of community members and to create a sense of solidarity. We cannot hope to make a difference in our city unless we understand the problems affecting us and unite in our commitment to overcome them. Please make it a priority to attend a house meeting – that is, please make doing justice a priority. This is essential work for our city and our parish family. May the Lord bless you throughout the week.

Parish News

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27: 17). The men of the parish are invited to attend Christ the King’s

new Men’s Group. The purpose of the group is to give men the opportunity to deepen their understanding of masculine spirituality and to grow in their commitment to the Lord, the Church, and their families. We will meet on the last Saturday of every month at 7:30 a.m., beginning next Saturday, September 30. We will enjoy breakfast and discuss the ways in which we live out our faith as men. The group will conclude each meeting with Mass at 9:00 a.m. (This event is in English.) The Knights of Columbus and the Women’s Care Center Foundation will once again be distributing and collecting bottles for the Baby Bottle Campaign. October is Respect Life Month, and

this is a great way to help support men and women facing unplanned pregnancies. Bottles will be distributed next weekend, September 30- October 1. Please take bottles home and collect change (cash or checks too). Bottles should be returned to the church during the weekend of October 28 and 29. Thank you for your support! Sigamos orando por las personas, familias y comunidades afectadas por los desastres naturales. Que el Señor les extienda su misericordia, fortaleza y sanación. Y que María, nuestra Madre Celestial, los cuide con amor y compasión. Mirando hacia adelante en el calendario litúrgico, la Fiesta de los Arcángeles es este viernes, 29 de septiembre. Hay tres arcángeles nombrados en la Biblia: Miguel, Gabriel y Rafael. San Miguel combate y vence al diablo en el Libro del Apocalipsis. En el Evangelio de San Lucas, San Gabriel anuncia a María que será la Madre de Dios. San Rafael es el compañero disfrazado y milagroso de Tobías en el Libro de Tobit. Estos son algunos de los intercesores más poderosos que tenemos en el cielo, y sería buena idea conversar con ellos regularmente. Además de nuestros ángeles de la guarda, los arcángeles vienen rápidamente en nuestra ayuda siempre que los invocamos. We have two natural family planning courses to offer to all Spanish speaking parishioners. A new cycle of courses begins on

Saturday, October 7, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the church basement. Classes will continue on Saturdays throughout the months of October and November. Please contact the sisters to register and for more information. A two-part series of classes will also be offered at Santa Cruz Parish, 143 Patterson Ave., in the Latino Center. The class dates are Saturday, October 14 and 21 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. There is a $35 fee per couple. Payment must be made on the first day of class. The candidates forum is presented by the Franklin County Consortium for Good Government and this site is sponsored by the Catholic Diocese Office for Social Concerns and Black Catholic Ministries of Columbus, with the support of parish and community organizations. All Saints Academy Catholic School

Update on the Window Project: We currently have the east side of the building and the north side of the building left for replacing windows. At this time, we are trying to get this project completed. Thanks to operating budget, some grant money, generous donations, and the collaborative work between school and parish, we hope to finish this project this school year. The cost of both sides is $140,000. We have current donors and money sources that will be able to pay for about 58% of the total cost. The office will work on writing a grant to gain more income for this project and welcome any private or corporate donors. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

Outside the Parish

Seton Parish is sponsoring a seven-week grief support group.

This program is designed for adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one through death. All are welcome to attend no matter how long ago that death has occurred; there is no time frame for grieving. This Support Group will be held at Seton Parish beginning Wednesday, October 4, and ending in November. The time will be 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. For further information and/or registration, please call the church office at 614-833-0482. (This event is in English.) Escuela Católica All Saints Academy

Actualización en el proyecto de ventanas: Actualmente falta el lado este del edificio y el lado norte del edificio de reemplazar las ventanas. En este momento estamos tratando de completar este proyecto. Gracias al presupuesto de operación, algunas becas, donaciones generosas y el trabajo de colaboración entre la escuela y la parroquia, creemos que podemos terminar este proyecto en este año escolar.
