Gathering worship and welcome: We meet in the presence of God who knows our needs, hears our cries, feels our pain, and heals our

wounds.

Psalms 34:1f

I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. 2:My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

3:Glorify the LORD with me: let us exalt his name together.

4:I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Songs of praise: Bless the Lord O my Soul, Into your hands

Prayer for Flames We say sorry to God: Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’

Jesus, friend of sinners, you bring hope in our despair. Lord, have mercy.

Lord, have mercy.

Jesus, healer of the sick, you give strength in our weakness.

Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.

Jesus, destroyer of evil, you bring life in our dying.

Lord, have mercy.

Lord, have mercy. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry.

Song of Gods promise: Now bless the God of Israel

Prayer: Gracious Father, by the obedience of Jesus you brought salvation to

our wayward world: draw us into harmony with your will, that we may find all things restored in him, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen

Bible readings: 1 Samuel 1:1-18, Matthew 5:1-12

Sermon: Song: Still be still Intercessions Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

The peace:

The peace of the Lord be always with you and also with you.

Let us offer one another a sign of peace. Hymn: Behold the lamb

The communion:

Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’ The Lord be with you

and also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give thanks and praise.

Why is it right to give thanks and praise?

Listen, and we will hear.

Lord of all life, you created the universe, where all living things reflect your glory.

You give us this great and beautiful earth, to discover and to cherish.

You give us sun and moon and star-lit sky, everything that gives us light, light for our eyes, our hearts, our minds.

You made us all, each wonderfully different, to join with the angels to give you praise:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

We thank you, loving Father, because, when we turned away, you sent Jesus,

your Son. He gave his life for us on the cross and shows us the way to live.

Send your Holy Spirit that these gifts of bread and wine may be for us Christ’s body and his blood.

Why do we share this bread and wine?

Listen, and we will hear.

On the night before he died, when darkness had fallen, Jesus took bread.

He gave thanks, broke it, and shared it with his disciples, saying: ‘This is my body, given for you. Do this to remember me.’

After they had eaten, he took the cup of wine, gave thanks, and shared it with his disciples, saying: ‘This is my blood, poured out for you and for many,

for the forgiveness of sins.’

So Father, with this bread and this cup we celebrate his love, his death, his risen life. As you feed us with these gifts, send your Holy Spirit, and change

us more and more to be like Jesus our Saviour.

How do we follow Jesus Christ?

Listen, and we will hear.

Help us, Father, to love one another, as we look forward to that day when suffering is ended, and all creation is gathered in your loving arms.

And now with all your saints we give you glory, through Jesus Christ, in the

strength of the Spirit, today and for ever. Amen.

The Lord’s prayer: Please sit As our Saviour taught us, so we pray

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily

bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever.

Amen. We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.

We share bread and wine together During the sharing of communion there will be an opportunity for prayer for healing. If you would like prayer or a simple blessing then please move to the ‘prayer place’ to the left of the dais where someone will come to you.

Prayer after Communion Eternal God, comfort of the afflicted and healer of the broken, you have fed us at the table of life and hope: teach us the ways of

gentleness and peace, that all the world may acknowledge the

kingdom of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen Flames Book giving Notices and banns of marriage Please sit Song: There is a hope

The Blessing and Dismissal The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing; and the blessing

of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and

remain with you always. Amen

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

In the name of Christ. Amen.
