Choosing A Song

Deciding on a song hasn’t been an easy task. With a wide range of influences at hand it is hard to sift through them and decide which is best fitted to a music video. As well as wanting the video to look good, I must also take into account that not everyone else will enjoy the music selected. However, that is a sacrifice my film partner and I are willing to make.

Our song choiceWe have selected the song ‘Hey You’, a song composed by Pink Floyd and from their enormously successful 1979 concept album The Wall. We are blessed with choosing this song as there is a clear outline as to what the song is about, therefore giving us a better understanding of how to portray it. Within the story Pink (the main character) realises the mistake he made in shunning society, and attempts to regain contact with the outside world. However, he cannot see or hear beyond the wall. Pink's call becomes more and more desperate as he begins to realise there is no escape. And so, I am planning to portray these emotions of longing and of loneliness, though not with narratives, by using various different shots to display these feelings. This seems to only provide further difficulties within the task as synaesthesia can only help so far.
