Chinese Lanterns

• red paper

• glitter gold paint and brush

• gold ribbon & gold pipe

cleaner

• scissors

• metal fastener

• stapler

• glue

Instructions

1. Paint glitter gold paint on red paper and let dry.

2. For the round lantern, cut 8 equal strips.

3. Lay all the strips on top of each other and push a hole through the

top and bottom of the stack.

4. Push a metal fastener through the bottom hole and spread strips

out like a flower. Bring the top of each strip together to form a ball

and fasten another metal fastener through the top holes.

5. Staple gold ribbon to the bottom and one on the top for hanging.

6. For the other lantern, fold a new red paper in half lengthwise.

7. Draw lines equally spaced and cut the lines on the folded side as in

the picture. Don’t cut all the way across.

8. Unfold the lantern, place the sheet vertically on the table.

9. Roll the paper so the top of the paper and the bottom connect.

10. Glue or staple the ends together. Add a gold pipe cleaner.
